Wednesday, September 23rd was the annual event, SEE YOU AT THE POLE.  It’s my understanding that most schools take part, or at least allow Christian young people to gather around the flag pole to pray.  Apparently, for 2 years in a row, one school did not participate or even allow their kids to engage in prayer around the pole.

SEE YOU AT THE POLE - ALONE IN PRAYER

Would you have had the courage to do what this child did?  I honestly can’t say that I would have when I was nine years old.  Can the staff at school tell a child they cannot pray by the flag pole?

Note to all who want to squash religious liberty in America:  you’ll never EVER have the power to keep us from praying to our God.  You can’t take that away from us!  Religious liberty in America is under attack…  just as sure as radical Islam wants America dead, there are those here on our soil who want to see the freedoms of Christians depleted, i.e. eliminated.  What do you think would happen to the blessings from God that America has enjoyed up to now if that happened?  Do you care?

If you admire this sweet girl for taking a stand against the status quo, please share this poem on your facebook wall, blog, twitter or wherever people will see it.  Even though a school does not “allow” activities for Christians, guess what???  We pray anyway!

They all met together and were constantly UNITED in prayer.   – Acts 1:14

The only way our young people will develop good morals and values is if the parents teach them.  Our schools today have absolutely no interest in having prayer or saying the pledge of allegiance.  Things have sure changed since I was in school.  It used to be that honoring the God of the Bible and pledging the American flag mattered.  What has happened to us?

Then we wonder why kids grow up to be what they grow up to be…  hmm.  We really are a sum total of our experiences in life.  Knowing God from a young age is the greatest experience of all.  Prayer is the greatest privilege we have as a Christian.  Shame on any school that would deny a child of that!

You know, we are so much more tolerant of other religions.  I saw a recent episode of Watter’s World on The O’Reilly Factor – he was interviewing Muslims and asked the question, “Do you think Sharia law should override the American Constitution?”  In my mind I thought, “Surely they realize that here in America the Constitution comes before any religious laws.”  I was shocked when most of them answered yes – they thought Sharia law should be the law of the land – meaning America.

I understand there is a separation between church & state.  It’s not a bad idea – seriously.  There are beliefs from other religions that I do not agree with (Sharia law in particular).  So, more than ever, we as Americans need to cling to the Constitution in order to stay free and united.

Being a Christian, however, means that we can absolutely pray to God anytime – anywhere.  The purpose of SEE YOU AT THE POLE is to provide Christian kids an opportunity to pray together.  It’s tough enough to be a kid at this time in history.  What would it hurt a school to allow their Christian kids to pray together at the flag pole?

It’s really getting crazy.  Just last Thursday a Jersey City school board meeting voted on whether they should close for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.  It would have extended the school year by another day.  There’s video of some very upset Muslims that maybe you’ve seen.

Here’s the deal.  This is America and our Christian children are practicing a faith that this great country was founded on!  To show special favor to any other faith than the Christian faith is just wrong.  Yes, America is a melting pot – we all know it is.  I remember being taught that in history class, don’t you?  It’s fine to make allowances for other folks – but let’s protect our American Christian youth.  They are precious to God – and to us.  🙂

This just in…  the school has decided to have SEE YOU AT THE POLE at a later date.  This blogger has to wonder if they would have done this if not for the brave girl who honored her God before her school?  I pray God’s richest blessings on her.  🙂

There are some changes taking place in Wichita.  Although embracing change with an open mind is a challenge for me, I’m opinionated and need to add my two cents worth (which in today’s economy is worth less than one cent).  :-/

DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER NATIONAL AIRPORT Wichita, Kansas

Wichita has a new airport – the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport.  It looks quite modern from the outside and everyone talks about how fresh, clean and new it looks inside.  My husband and I decided to go check it out.

Before I go on, allow me a moment of nostalgia.  There’s not a ton of fun things to do in Wichita, so we used to go to the OLD airport and watch the planes take off and land.  Don’t feel sorry for me – that was fun!  We used to do that for a while, then eat at one of the restaurants and just walk around a bit.

PRE 9 11 MEMORIES

These days – in the post 9/11 world – it’s considered loitering.  Just hanging around an airport is not encouraged now for obvious reasons.  I get that – but part of me is sad.  Bit by bit our innocent activities are being taken from us.  Hey – when you’re low on cash, watching planes at the airport can be sort of fun!  There’s a people-watching opportunity you just can’t get anywhere else!  😉

There is absolutely no reason to darken the door of our new airport unless you are catching a flight.  There is one small “café” on the ground floor – as far as I could tell, they sell donuts and coffee – maybe hot dogs.  That’s about as good as it gets for those of us who are not being winged off.

If you are going to pick someone up at the airport, take my advice and brown bag it or eat something before you get to the airport.

All the other restaurants are beyond security!  Yeah – I’m just sad.

Gone are the innocent days of eating a nice meal with friends or relatives then walking them to their gate to see them off.  Then once they’re on the plane, standing at the huge window to watch the plane take off (crying and waving – as though they can see you).  LOL!!!

It’s sentimental and silly – but I will miss it.

I guess the new plan will be to eat at a restaurant somewhere in the city before taking them to the airport.  Then we will say goodbye outside in the parking lot – and drive away, trusting that they will get through security and on the right flight at the right time.  It seems so cold compared to the way things used to be.

I don’t like it – but I don’t like the way 9/11 changed our country and our lives forever.  The new airport is efficient and discourages loitering – I get it – this is the way it has to be.  Just give me a minute to be nostalgic and sentimental – and yeah – silly.  I pray that God will bless our country – in this post 9/11 world.  We will never see the innocence we once knew again.

It’ll be okay – really it will.  🙂

If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.  If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!  – Mark 3:24-26

Join me in prayer for our country.  My spirit is heavy and I’m so weary of the widening chasm which is leading to hate and division in America!  I just want to scream – STOP IT!!!  Enough already.  Am I the only one?

These tragedies are happening much too often.  What fuels the fire of hate that leads to this end?  What is the answer for the United States?  What will it take to keep the United States…  well – united?

I believe with my whole heart that Carman sang about the only hope to solve America’s problems nearly 20 years ago.

If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.  – 2 Chronicles 7:13-15

When will we listen?  When will America humble itself as a nation before God?

The fact that this shooting happened makes me so sad, but that it happened in a church – a place that should have been safe…  well, I can hardly wrap my mind around it!

PRAYER (4)

Do I have the answers?  No, but it’s my hope that America will seek God with a humble heart and ask Him to please heal our sick, immoral, divided, irreverent land.  The Bible is not just a book – it’s the Word of God.

B.I.B.L.E. = BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LEAVING EARTH.

Let’s continue to read the instruction Book, pray and seek God together…  🙂

THEY NEED YOUR STRENGTH
I live in Kansas and have never seen the great lakes. To be honest, when I hear “Lake Erie”, an old song by Gordon Lightfoot pops into my head. Remember the song, “The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald”??? Yeah, there’s a line in it that talks about “…Takes in what Lake Erie can give her…” and that’s my experience with the great lakes. I hope that will change one day soon. It’s still on my bucket list.

But Lake Erie is not being very nice today. I’ve read about how Toledo, Ohio is having what they are calling a “water crisis”! Apparently, there was not enough rainfall and the algae has grown and now the water supply is not fit for consumption by man or beast.

We take water for granted, don’t we? I can’t even imagine having to go out and buy my water from the store like I do milk and coffee creamer. Since I don’t own the trucks or equipment necessary to help them in any tangible manner, I did what I knew to do – I prayed. I hope you will join me in praying for these folks. We can’t give them water to drink, but we can pray that the living water stay close by their side through this crisis.

One case of bottled water per family. I have a family of two and I know we go through at least two of those every day! The one sermon we hear preached to us by our diabetic doctors is that we need to hydrate! My prayers go with these people. I’ve never walked in their shoes and I can’t imagine being without water, especially in the summertime.

Dear God,
Please touch these families and bless them I pray. You alone know how to fix this problem and we humbly ask that You would do that for them.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen. ❤

Dick Van Dyke is uninjured after his Jaguar caught fire while he was driving on a Los Angeles freeway.

I read that he was laughing and cracking jokes with the off-duty firefighter that pulled him from his burning car!!! This man is amazing – and what a great attitude he has!

I agreed with his thesis that God was not an all-powerful “cosmic superman” looking down from the penthouse as much as He was Love.”  – Dick Van Dyke, My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business

There is an old saying that you will reap what you sow. That does not mean that bad things will not happen, but it does mean that if you are living right (good clean livin’), when those bad things do happen, God is going to take care of you.

You can spread jelly on the peanut butter but you can’t spread peanut butter on the jelly.
– Dick Van Dyke, My Lucky Life in and Out of Show Business

This is the most clear-cut example of the rewards that come with good clean livin’ that I’ve ever seen! I have been a fan of Dick Van Dyke’s for decades! While I don’t want to portray the man as a saint, I would be very quick to say that he has always entertained us with no hint of compromise on his part. His integrity and moral judgment in choosing roles has always been above-board. Not many people would take the time to thank him – but I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU, Mr. Van Dyke – for being the funniest entertainer ever – and keeping it clean and wholesome without getting downright cheesy.

I am so glad he was not hurt! Thankful too for the guys who stopped to pull him to safety! God surely had His hand in it – no doubt!

May God continue to send His angels to watch over you!
