TEN DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA

TL 7-1 THROUGH 7-10 TEN DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICAINTEGRITY:  the quality or state of being of sound moral principle; uprightness, honesty, and sincerity.

As a female, Republican, conservative, Christian voter, I want to see our leadership in Washington have decency, honesty and INTEGRITY!  It begins with IN and ends with GRIT.  People with integrity are strong and courageous enough to stand against what is morally wrong.  Did you ever see the movie TRUE GRIT with John Wayne?  That kind of attitude without the whisky – sort of.  Wow…  let’s get some backbone in there mixed in with morals and values – wouldn’t that be fantastic?  I miss Ronald Reagan.  There, I got that out of my system.

SOUND MORAL PRINCIPLE.  Are we quite certain that this is what our Republican candidate has?  I don’t know, but I’m not sold on it.  Is he the lesser of two evils?  I don’t know that either.  I know for sure and for certain I will not vote for the Democratic candidate.  Will I vote at all?  I just don’t know.

Take a look at this link from Max Lucado:

https://maxlucado.com/decency-for-president/

It has occurred to me that if I don’t vote at all, I’m opening the door to the possibility that the Democrats will win.  I know our country can NOT continue its downward spiral under their agenda of redistribution of wealth and throwing other people’s money at every problem that comes down the pike.  And letting in thousands of refugees when we have homeless veterans on our streets makes me sick – literally sick.  Our vets deserve the best America has…  ugh.  Respect the veterans still living!

So today we will pray a prayer asking God for clear thinking and wisdom.  I really need it, don’t you?

Let’s pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,  We have read Your Holy Bible and we know right from wrong as we live our own lives; however, as we quickly approach November, we really need to think clearly with wisdom straight from You.  We don’t pretend to know these candidate’s hearts, values or motives.  All we can do is look at their past record of behavior.  We hunger and thirst for decency, morals, backbone, and sincere integrity.  Anyone can stand before a group of Christians and read a prepared speech filled with ear-tickling phrases that are specially written to persuade them to vote in their favor.  Lord, only You know who needs to be our next President.  We ask that You would please guide us as we decide who to vote for, or whether to vote at all.  Wisdom from You is the greatest tool in a Christian’s toolbox.  We need fresh wisdom, clear thinking, discernment, and conviction that we’re doing the right thing on election day.  We ask all of this in the precious and matchless Name of Jesus, Amen.

At this point I do want to remind you (and me too) that no matter who the President is, Jesus Christ is the KING!  As Lucinda and I chat, we are encouraged by those words, we hope you are too!  The Lord wants us to put HOLES in the Darkness!  We’re in the last days, I believe.  We know things will get more challenging, but we also know that God will protect us!

FALL BACK

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS

AN EXTRA HOUR TO SLEEP

When there is change jingling around in my pocket or the bottom of my handbag, that my friends, is a GOOD thing.  It means I will have something to lay on the table at the end of a good meal in a restaurant to let the server know he or she is appreciated.  It means I can make a phone call, I think.  It’s been a while since I’ve had to make a call from a pay phone – do they have a slot for pocket change anymore or do they have dollar bill slots?  I wonder if they exist anymore – everyone these days (except me) has a cell phone.

The changing seasons are good too, although I could do with more mild, shorter winters.  I’ve put in that request with my Maker, but to no avail it seems.  He does know best in these matters.  Remind me again about how global warming is the ultimate doom of us all when there is a pile of snow in my driveway this winter – ok?  But autumn – the prelude to the cold and the snow and the cabin fever I know I will endure in the coming months – oh I love autumn.  If only we could keep autumn, but it’s not meant to be.  We need to keep changing, bending without breaking under the pressure.

It’s difficult to bend without breaking as things change.  As the morals around us lower, we hang on to our core values, beliefs and integrity.  We pray that God will help us stand strong.  We don’t have to be vocal and annoying about things, but there is a quiet strength that will stay with us and help us remember who we are in God.  His Holy Spirit is in us and He will be with us to the end.

Change always comes bearing gifts.   – Price Pritchett

Gifts???  Seriously?  Changes are not always for the best – and just because the majority has gone along is no reason I should go along too.  I will not speak out, but I will not break under the pressure to go along either.  I may bend outwardly a little – but break – no.  God won’t let me break.  He won’t let me fail – no matter what is happening around me.

Here in Wichita we will be changing our clocks again.  It’s another change I’d love to do without.  The people in Arizona don’t have to do it – why do we?  Yes, I’m whining – but I will change all of the clocks in my house again…  daylight savings time goes away today.  We will have very dark mornings and it will get dark earlier now.  Sigh – I will miss the sunlight so much.  But I will keep smiling – and change my clocks – fall back one hour.  It’s not a change I embrace, needless to say.

On November 4th I hope to see a change in the government.  I hope to see a Republican senate in office because there need to be some core values, Christian beliefs and integrity in the White House.  Someone needs to put the brakes on what’s been going on for sure.  I wish the Republicans would give us a clear game plan instead of just saying they are opposed to the status quo.  It’s not enough to know they don’t agree with what’s happening – that’s lazy campaigning.  They really need to let us know they have a better plan – then spell it out for us.  That would be a great change in my humble opinion.

Christians – hang in there – bend with change without breaking.  Lean on the Lord – He won’t let you break.  He won’t let you fail.    😀

TRUST

Those who represent us in government agencies will be judged more harshly by God than others. The more power you have, the more upstanding you’d better be. Do you really think God will not judge the ones in authority?

If we are not able to trust, what is left? Most of us quickly equate the word trust to marriage and infidelity. Today I would ask you to broaden your horizon to include situations such as the workplace, or maybe even our government.

A skeptic is a person who would ask God for his ID card. – Edgar A. Shoaff

I’m not suggesting that anyone become a complete skeptic. We all have to trust to some degree or we will go mad. I am wondering if we all might open our eyes more to the complete LINE of scandals that have headed up news reports for over a year now: The V.A. scandal, the I.R.S. scandal, Benghazi, and others. Never in the history of our country have there been so many laws broken, lives lost – with no accountability or consequences resulting!

Trust – we need to be able to trust in those who run our country. The American people deserve at least that much. It’s as though we are all wearing blinders to what is happening in Washington! When did we become so unconcerned and uncaring about our country?

There’s a sort of self-centered focus, but we need to snap out of it and realize that if we don’t begin to care and step up for some changes, the lawless behavior will one day – one way or the other – directly affect YOU. By the time you realize that, it will be too late to do anything.

Each one of us should lead a life stirring enough to start a movement. – Max Lucado

It’s time for America to vote in people with INTEGRITY and VALUES. We need to demand a government we can TRUST. ❤

SEPTEMBER IS SELF-IMPROVEMENT MONTH

SEPTEMBER IS SELF-IMPROVEMENT MONTH

https://youtu.be/sBevw7yI-TY

Be a first-rate version of yourself, not a second-rate version of someone else.
– Judy Garland

Where has this year gone? Today is a brand new month! Hello, September!!! You know, most people make New Year’s resolutions, but I make New Month resolutions. This month I resolve to stop comparing me or my life with others. They have not walked my path and I have not walked theirs. September’s theme is “Live and Let Live”.  I vow not to compete, but be complete.

I happened to see an advertisement today that acted as a catalyst for this post.

Name: Paul & Darla Star Date Of Event: 9/1/13 Event Type: Reunion Venue: Century II – Wichita, KS    Comments: Bob from Notable Genius was AMAZING. You were the best DJ! We wanted high energy and people on the dance floor all night and he was able to keep all age groups happy and dancing.

I understand the value of word-of-mouth recommendations for advertisement, but there seems to be so much competition in life that I forget to look at my face in the mirror and promise to be a better me today than I was yesterday.  Sometimes we drown in the competition around us.  I know it’s just good business to put your name out there and get noticed, but sometimes it’s a good idea to be interested in giving someone else a hand up.  I wonder if it would hurt a person in business so much to do that.  There are too many heartless, competitive businesses.  When did the Golden Rule turn to rust?

Every day of our lives we are faced with a choice. From the moment we open our eyes in the morning, we can either choose to have a bitter attitude toward life and circumstances, or we can choose to have a better attitude toward life and circumstances. Is it really that simple? Yes, it is!

If you have tried to do something in your life and it doesn’t happen for you the first time, it’s a great temptation to just throw your hands in the air and give up, right? But what if you tried again – and maybe just tweak one little aspect of your plan. What if that one small change made all the difference between failure and success? There’s a mistaken idea that success just magically happens for people. I’m not sure how that lie got spread around, but it is not true. Success is a string of failures! Too many people just give up on their dream too soon. It’s sad because they will never realize their full potential – and the world may have missed out on something truly wonderful!

The choice to be better no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, really speaks to an individual’s integrity, character and moral fiber to a great extent. If a person tends to be more positive, they are more likely to hang in there and succeed. If a person has a negative outlook about life in general, they will more than likely give up when they come to the first bump in the road. A good attitude in life leads to positive actions – and positive results.  Pray for a good Samaritan to come along to lend a helping hand.

That’s a great skit! That poor girl just wanted to be useful but kept stepping on someone else’s toes. I’ve been there in church, haven’t you?  Sad but true.

Most people visiting a church are walking away from a bad situation. They either feel unwanted, unappreciated, over-worked or they felt invisible in their former church. It’s not the congregation’s job to figure out which group the visitor falls in.

Sometimes it’s difficult for a visitor to find their “niche'” in the body of Christ. I don’t mean to sound ugly, but it’s like nobody really wants to make room for anyone else to use their talents. Then there are times when you walk in the door and you are handed an entire LIST of jobs that nobody wants to do – so they really hope that you will take one of those jobs – or all of them.

The church really needs to be careful about how it approaches visitors. Everyone is different and we don’t want to exclude anyone, but we don’t want to bombard them with responsibilities either.  Wink!   😉

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART 35

Dick Van Dyke is uninjured after his Jaguar caught fire while he was driving on a Los Angeles freeway.

I read that he was laughing and cracking jokes with the off-duty firefighter that pulled him from his burning car!!! This man is amazing – and what a great attitude he has!

I agreed with his thesis that God was not an all-powerful “cosmic superman” looking down from the penthouse as much as He was Love.”  – Dick Van Dyke, My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business

There is an old saying that you will reap what you sow. That does not mean that bad things will not happen, but it does mean that if you are living right (good clean livin’), when those bad things do happen, God is going to take care of you.

You can spread jelly on the peanut butter but you can’t spread peanut butter on the jelly.
– Dick Van Dyke, My Lucky Life in and Out of Show Business

This is the most clear-cut example of the rewards that come with good clean livin’ that I’ve ever seen! I have been a fan of Dick Van Dyke’s for decades! While I don’t want to portray the man as a saint, I would be very quick to say that he has always entertained us with no hint of compromise on his part. His integrity and moral judgment in choosing roles has always been above-board. Not many people would take the time to thank him – but I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU, Mr. Van Dyke – for being the funniest entertainer ever – and keeping it clean and wholesome without getting downright cheesy.

I am so glad he was not hurt! Thankful too for the guys who stopped to pull him to safety! God surely had His hand in it – no doubt!

May God continue to send His angels to watch over you!
