A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

We have inexpressible JOY…  you know what the world is asking right now???  They’re asking, “How???  Why???”.  Those who do not accept Christ Jesus and His precious Holy Spirit into their hearts and lives, do not understand inexpressible joy.  It’s only by accepting Christ Jesus by faith into your heart and life that you can experience a joy that can not be explained.  It’s better felt than telt…  because I can’t explain it with words.  Words are not adequate – but true faith in the Lord and Savior Christ Jesus is how we experience His amazing joy, love, grace, and mercy.  And He rewards us with these things because He longs to have a relationship with His creation.  He wants to love us and for our love and faithfulness in return.  Sometimes our faith gets tested…  major big time!

You know about the fires in California, right?  Take a look at this photograph – everything around it is in ashes, but this cross still stands!  What a wonderful reminder that no matter what is being destroyed in our lives, Christ and His cross can never be destroyed if they are in your heart and life!  When I saw this picture, my eyes filled with tears and once again I prayed for the folks there whose homes are being destroyed.  May they have the joy of the Lord along with His strength and wisdom through this situation.  I pray God will bless them with everything they need – and I pray that God will bless with some wants as well.

We don’t follow a list of rules and get zapped by lightning if we step out-of-bounds.  We are obedient to God because we love Him and are so thankful for the horrific sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross at Calvary.  He took the sins of the world – past, present, future – on His shoulders!  We are saved from an eternity in hell.  There is a reason we should love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls and minds.  As the years go by and we see His marvelous works in our lives, we just love and trust Him more and more!  This is how we get the inexpressible, undeniable, precious JOY of the Lord.  What does the joy of the Lord do for us?  Why do we cherish it so much?  Well, a verse comes to mind:

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.  – Psalm 28:7

He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.  It sounds like a GOOD thing to me – doesn’t it sound like a GOOD thing to you?  No matter what is going on in your life, the Savior of your soul can be trusted to make a way and provide answers.  The way and the answers may not be in your time, but believe me when I say, there will come a time when you look back and say, “Oh, now I understand God’s timing in that situation!”  That’s why the longer you trust God, the stronger your faith gets.  You’ve seen so many ways God has helped you in the past – so you know without a doubt that He has all the problems in the present and the ones coming in the future under control.

I’m assured that whatever comes along in my life, God and His precious Holy Spirit will pour out His love, peace and joy on me.  When we are fully trusting in the Lord, it’s not a superficial happiness that we’re given, but it’s joy that lasts in our lives regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in.  That’s why it’s called inexpressible – and to the world, I would go further and say they think it doesn’t exist.  Ah…  but if you know the Lord, you know better!

I want to show you a photo of JOY!!!  This is Madi, and I hope her middle name is Joy, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t..  If I ever get to meet her, she will be JOY to me!  She’s such a bright, shiny star and lights up any room!

I’VE GOT THE JOY, JOY, JOY, JOY DOWN IN MY HEART! DOWN IN MY HEART TO STAY!

Have faith, children of God.  Keep praying and keep showing the world the joy that God gives you to share.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

As I watch true crime dramas, I’m amazed when a suspect is arrested.  They are told they have the RIGHT to remain silent, yet I can count on one hand how many of them do not stay silent.  Criminals do not seem to be the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.  If I’m ever arrested, I believe I will be silent, because that seems to be the most intelligent thing to do.  Lawyer up and remain silent.

Jesus makes it very clear in His Sermon on the Mount that we are to consider everyone a neighbor.  When asked who our neighbor is – He said everyone.  It’s not just the one who happens to live in the house next to yours.  When we take that into consideration, we realize that it is never okay to belittle anyone.  I know we’ve all done it – maybe a little snarky remark that we think doesn’t amount to anything.  We think it’s harmless to belittle and be verbally abusive to others – but it’s not.

Snarkiness says less about the subject of the remark – and everything about the one making the remark.  There are usually some underlying reasons we get snarky.  When I’m tempted to be snarky to someone, it’s usually because I’m jealous of their ability or their hourglass figure.  When we have absolutely no other defense, there is a temptation to be snarky.  It’s wrong.  I’m the first to admit I’ve done it.  I am a work in progress, and admitting you have the tendency is the first step.  With God’s help, I can nip it in the bud and try to pray instead of make snarky remarks.

Honestly, aren’t we surrounded with attitudes of foolishness in this world?  Do we really need to be another belittling drone?  The Bible tells us it is foolish – and we’re supposed to be wise in our behavior, not foolish.  I want to rise above the average person, who is basically insecure in themselves just like I am – but uses snarky remarks to cover up.  I want to be – dare I say it?  BETTER.  I need to remember that God gave that person gifts and talents, but He also gave me gifts and talents.  Maybe another person’s gifts seem to be better than mine, but so what?   I can’t be them – but guess what?  They can’t be ME either!

Yes, I’ve said some snarky things – and I can’t tell you how sorry I am for that.  Like everyone, I’m a work in progress.  I’m not perfect, but I’m never fake.  I’m trying to replace foolish behavior with silent prayer.  Sometimes people mistake that for fear.  Some folks have said that I’m afraid of people because I don’t chime in with them when they are belittling someone.  I’m not afraid – I’m praying for wisdom in a foolish situation.  There’s nothing wrong with that.

I want to speak LIFE…  live and let live.  I need God’s approval more than I need anything.  I want to lift others with my words because that is what my God does for me.  When I do the right thing, I feel His blessing, His peace, His love and His approval.  That is all I need in this life – and in the next.  🙂

BANNER 9-17

PSALM 9-17

I had reservations about sharing this verse today.  Most of the Psalms are uplifting and encouraging – but this one is just sobering, to say the least.  I wrestled and prayed about it, and the Lord seemed to impress upon me that, while it is a good thing to be uplifting and encouraging, it is a necessity to bear in mind that there are consequences for disobedience as well.

There is good news even though this Psalm is definitely NOT it.  For those nations that turn to the one and only GOD of the universe…  there are blessings in store!  If our nation will be humble before Him – bow before Him and seek His face – He is faithful and just to answer our petitions and heal our land!  If you are reading this right now, I invite you to say a simple prayer in humility, that God will heal the things in your life that are broken, and then that He will heal our very sick and broken land.  We need Him now more than ever!

When I see all the different ways that America is divided, it frightens me and makes me so sad.  There have always been political differences, but it’s gone beyond that now.  We’re split on even the smallest of issues these days.  We need to turn all of it over to our Creator because He’s the only One who can fix it.  Are we too proud to hand it over, or do we think we’re so smart that we can make everything okay again?  I’m not sure if it’s a matter of pride or sheer stupidity, but until we decide we’re gonna hand the whole ball of wax to Father God, it won’t get fixed.

That’s the challenge I give you.  I hope you will join me and pray for a wonderful glorious healing in America.  Once we are well again, we can give all the glory to God.  He alone deserves all our praise!

Bless you for praying for me!  Several of you have contacted me while I’ve been absent from the blog.  My back is still out of whack – and I hope to have surgery sometime before the end of the year.  Pray that it will be and that it will be successful.  The pain is more than I can bear some days.

As if that were not enough…  our internet provider decided to increase our rate, so we are in the process of changing providers.  There seems to be some problem getting my laptop on the internet – so please pray that they can get that taken care of soon.  Our desktop computer is not as user-friendly as my laptop is, so it’s a source of frustration for me.  LOL!  I’m practicing patience…  oh my!  You know I’m not that patient!

Have a wonderful week and don’t forget to pray.  This verse serves as a sad reminder to the nation that does not make GOD the LORD of all.

Let’s live for Jesus!  That’s what matters!  Have a wonderful week in the Lord!  🙂

PRAYERS & WISHES FOR THANKSGIVING

tl-thanksgiving-2016-11-12-thru-11-24

Can adversity ever be a good thing?  It’s obviously unpleasant and no fun at all, but when God tests our faith, it can make us stronger and help us to learn lessons that make us better people.  The Bible talks about how we will be refined like gold and silver – and sometimes that heat gets mighty HOT.

Those are the times when we are tempted to stop believing, stop praying and stop reading the Bible.  We just want to throw our hands up and quit.  If we do that it certainly does not give God glory and it makes Him sad because we’ve lost faith and trust in Him.

faith

On the other side of that coin, we know that God is long-suffering.  In other words, He’s patient with us because He knows we are human and can’t see what’s down the road like He can.  God is not standing in front of us with a bat, ready to smack us if we begin to act a bit human.  He knows we’re human because He created us!  He created angels too – but He made them with absolutely no faith whatsoever because they don’t need it – humans need faith because we’ve not seen God or Heaven or any of what lies beyond what our eyes see.

So…  God works with us when we’re in the midst of a trial.  He wants us to be successful in the end.  He doesn’t want anyone to fail or miss Heaven.  Let’s say a prayer of thanks for God’s guidance through trials:a-prayer-poem-for-thanksgiving

I know some people will think it’s odd to be thankful for the trials that come our way, but it’s God’s way of working in our lives.  If only wonderful things happened in life, would we grow and learn to depend on God more?  I don’t think so.  praising-god-during-difficult-times

The next time you are in the midst of a trial, remember that it’s God’s way to bring you back to Him.  Our God is a jealous God and wants first place in our lives.  Aren’t we thankful that God has given us the privilege of praying to Him?

It’s my wish that you’ll be drawn closer to God through adversity in life.  Although we as human beings don’t understand why things have to go wrong, we have to acknowledge God’s hand in all things.  We raise our hands and praise Him no matter what.  🙂

TEN DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA

TL 7-1 THROUGH 7-10 TEN DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA

ANOTHER YEAR OLDER AND GOD IS STILL STRONG

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!  You know, folks, we have a general election coming up!  We have some issues to be sure, but we have a GREAT GOD and He is listening to our prayers.  If I didn’t believe that, would I really be doing this?  Nope – I’d be raiding the fridge.

Let’s pray!

Dear Heavenly Father,  Today as we celebrate our country’s 240th birthday, we humbly come before You to say thank You for guiding America safely to this point.  You’ve kept us safe and sound thus far and we trust that You will see us through to the end.  Lord, we continue to pray for our country’s leaders.  There are too many to name individually, but we do pray You would intervene in the life of President Obama in his last days in office.  We pray for Vice President Joe Biden.  Keep Your hand on him, Lord.  Our Attorney General Loretta Lynch comes to mind, Lord.  Please guide her as she makes decisions that affect our country.  May we finally have a country where there are rights for ALL people, even Christians.  Everyone in America needs to have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Father, may there finally be proper housing for our veterans.  It’s shameful that we open our arms to refugees but cannot provide housing for the ones who fought to ensure our safety.  Father, may someone find some common ground on the gun issue.  Please give our government wisdom about what kinds of guns we need and who should be using them.  Sometimes we are so frightened when we see the sickness and disease around us.  There’s hate and division by all sorts of methods.  Hatred by gender, economical status, social status, race, and sadly, religion.  There are people in another country who want us dead because we are Christians.  Radical Islamic terrorism is a threat to the entire world, including the U.S.A.  We’re scared, but we know, God, that this is all Your timing and we’ve read the back of the book and in the end, Father, YOU WIN!  Lord, WE THE PEOPLE ask for Your divine wisdom as we go to the voting booth in November.  Our country needs YOU.  We need Your guidance, direction and wisdom as we vote.  Holy Spirit, I personally invite You to go into that booth with me.  I ask that You help me as I make decisions about who should be in charge of America.  We love our country, Lord, but we love YOU more.  We trust You to help us through.  In Jesus’ precious and matchless Name we pray, Amen.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

8-11 NOT JUST ANOTHER DAY

He is incredible but he’s not the green hulk – he is Hulk Hogan, the longest reigning heavyweight champion of all time with the World Wrestling Federation.  Today is his birthday and it’s time to celebrate!

Hogan came to fame in the 1980’s in the WWF.  He set many records through the 1980’s and 1990’s and was the first man to win 2 consecutive royal rumbles.  He’s also been featured in television and film.  He even has his own reality show called “Hogan Knows Best”.

” Thunder in Paradise” is a film Hulk Hogan appeared in.  Let’s face it – there’s just never a dull moment when he’s around.

There comes a moment in life when we look around and see things falling apart and wonder if there is more to life than what we are in ourselves.  Sometimes we have to hit rock bottom before we take time to look up.  It’s painful while we’re going through it, but so rewarding when we stop struggling, look up through the tears and cry out to the God of the universe for help.  When we humble ourselves before God, healing – permanent healing – ultimately follows.  God is so faithful to us.  He is there for all who call on Him.

I now realize I had to go through all this stuff to be who I am today, to make me who I am today.  And then I realized all that stuff – the peace, love, the joy, that still, small voice, the energy, that God presence – is part of who I’m meant to be.  – Hulk Hogan

Life can seem to crumble for all of us – celebrities or ordinary folk like me.  The question is:  Who will you lean on for help when it happens.  God loves us so much and He wants to be the One you rely on completely when life falls apart.

We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.   – Oswald Chambers

Never give up on life no matter what happens.  Reach out to Jesus because He loves and cares for you.  Happy Birthday, Hulk Hogan!  God bless you and keep on keeping on – and believing that God has your life in His hand!  ❤

HOME IMPROVEMENTS
Oh the joys of home ownership! It seems like yesterday we were enjoying our custom-built home. Suddenly, nine years passed, and we are in the “home improvement” stage.

Good for the body is the work of the body, and good for the soul is the work of the soul, and good for either is the work of the other. – Henry David Thoreau

I admit, I enjoy home improvement. I like seeing things look and work better than they did before. The part that is not so great is the cost of home improvement.

I thought the worst news I could hear was that the cost of coffee was going up. I was wrong. We got an estimate on house repairs about this time last year and had one set of figures in mind, but this year the cost was much higher. I suppose some of that increase is due to the rising cost of gas and other materials needed to do the job.

In spite of the cost of living, it’s still popular. – Kathy Norris

Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise, we plan to have the exterior of our house replaced and sealed properly against the rain. Our original exterior was not properly sealed which resulted in some wood rot. I could use a little “Home Improvement” right now.  Of course, I mean the TV show.  You can watch episodes on You Tube.  I can’t post them here.

Home is the one place in all this world where hearts are sure of each other. It is the place of confidence. It is the place where we tear off that mask of guarded and suspicious coldness which the world forces us to wear in self-defense, and where we pour out the unreserved communications of full and confiding hearts. It is the spot where expressions of tenderness gush out without any sensation of awkwardness and without any dread of ridicule. – Frederick W. Robertson

God’s got this! It’ll be ok. 🙂
