NATIONAL MILK CHOCOLATE DAY

TL 7 28 NATIONAL MILK CHOCOLATE DAY

Did someone say CHOCOLATE???

We’ve all heard about the benefits of dark chocolate, but sometimes you just have to break the rules and have a little milk chocolate.  Today’s the day, chocoholics!  Dig in!

Milk chocolate is different from other chocolates.  It’s got either dry or condensed milk mixed with the cocoa and is used to make candy bars, hot chocolate and other scrumptious (and sinful) desserts.

Yes, we’ve stuck to our diet pretty closely…  so today, enjoy a little piece of milk chocolate.  Why?  Well, if you need a reason, try this one – it will literally make you happier!  Milk chocolate contains a stimulant called theobromine and a compound called anandamide.

An additional stimulant would be caffeine – in the coffee I’ll drink with my chocolate!

Take a look at this poem from Lucinda Berry Hill.  Just before she sent it to me, she commented that she never wrote funny poems until she met me.  LOL!!!  I said, “You’re welcome!”  I love how God helps us sharpen iron in friendships, don’t you?

7-28 SHARE THE GOODNESS

Of all the destinations on my bucket list, today one is really on my mind – HERSHEY, PA!  Look at these links and tell me this doesn’t add up to a FUN vacation!

And…  Tanger outlet mall (for the shoppers among us – raising my hand!)

It’s on my bucket list – I really want to visit there one day!  I’ve heard that it smells like chocolate all the time.  Lucinda tells me it’s especially strong after it rains.  Yeah, she gets to live near there…  lucky ducky!

We won’t talk about what Wichita smells like after it rains…  sigh.

Anyway, today, enjoy milk chocolate your favorite way. It doesn’t have to be with a cup of coffee (but I highly recommend it)  😉  Happy Milk Chocolate Day!

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (26)

THEY NEED YOUR STRENGTH
I live in Kansas and have never seen the great lakes. To be honest, when I hear “Lake Erie”, an old song by Gordon Lightfoot pops into my head. Remember the song, “The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald”??? Yeah, there’s a line in it that talks about “…Takes in what Lake Erie can give her…” and that’s my experience with the great lakes. I hope that will change one day soon. It’s still on my bucket list.

But Lake Erie is not being very nice today. I’ve read about how Toledo, Ohio is having what they are calling a “water crisis”! Apparently, there was not enough rainfall and the algae has grown and now the water supply is not fit for consumption by man or beast.

We take water for granted, don’t we? I can’t even imagine having to go out and buy my water from the store like I do milk and coffee creamer. Since I don’t own the trucks or equipment necessary to help them in any tangible manner, I did what I knew to do – I prayed. I hope you will join me in praying for these folks. We can’t give them water to drink, but we can pray that the living water stay close by their side through this crisis.

One case of bottled water per family. I have a family of two and I know we go through at least two of those every day! The one sermon we hear preached to us by our diabetic doctors is that we need to hydrate! My prayers go with these people. I’ve never walked in their shoes and I can’t imagine being without water, especially in the summertime.

Dear God,
Please touch these families and bless them I pray. You alone know how to fix this problem and we humbly ask that You would do that for them.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen. ❤

LIGHTHOUSE DAY

TL 8-7 LIGHTHOUSE DAY

Today we celebrate LIGHTHOUSE DAY!!! To be honest, I’ve never seen a lighthouse, except in photographs, of course. I’ve hosted parties with a lighthouse theme and I’ve read books and seen movies with lighthouses in them – but I’ve not seen a lighthouse – yet.

I would love to say that I’m going to celebrate by traveling to the East coast somewhere to visit but that’s not going to happen. I’ll be here in Kansas – smack dab in the middle of the United States for the rest of the day. I’ll be doing laundry and dusting furniture – but my mind will be elsewhere and I’ll be dreaming of crashing waves and imagining myself sauntering along a sandy beach in flip-flops. It all sounds just lovely.

Inside my empty bottle I was constructing a lighthouse while all the others were making ships. – Charles Simic

Of course, Jesus Christ is the lighthouse and may His light shine on me…  and you.

Have you ever heard the recordings that mix music with the sounds of nature? I have one that has the sound of the ocean with beautiful music. Maybe I will listen to that CD while I’m doing my chores today. I can escape Kansas just for a little while in my mind. But one day – it will be real. I will scratch that off my bucket list one day soon. ❤
