ANSWER THE PHONE LIKE BUDDY THE ELF DAY

 

Elf is a 2003 film about a man (Will Ferrell) raised by Santa’s elves at the North Pole is sent to the America in search of his true identity.  Today I want to challenge you to begin a new Christmas tradition based on this crazy elf’s life.  I know we have time-honored traditions, but there’s room for one more (especially if it’s something off the wall and fun!)  Today is ANSWER THE PHONE LIKE BUDDY THE ELF DAY!!!  So – this is the day you can mess with the mind of a telemarketer or make your husband laugh (as he rolls his eyes in disbelief).  It may make your mother-in-law wonder if you are cracking under the stress of the Christmas season – but who cares?  Today we all need to answer the phone like this: 

 Buddy the Elf. What’s your favorite color?

Fair warning – you may get this greeting if you phone in an order for pizza today.    Be prepared to say something witty instead of the standard, what, or huh???  

I asked my group on facebook, A Second Helping of Wellness…  with a Dash of Humor & a Pinch of Faith, to give me a witty response to “Buddy the Elf, What’s Your Favorite Color???”  Here’s what they had to say:

Ally:  RED & WHITE WITH SANTA ALL OVER!  :-p

John:  RED & GREEN, OF COURSE!  😀

Valerie:  WHITE AS SNOW BECAUSE YOU CAN COLOR IT EVERY COLOR THAT EXISTS!  🙂

And what am I prepared to say?  Well – I’m going to say CHRISTMAS PLUM PUDDING COLOR!  😉

There are two possible scenarios really – the caller could just be taken aback and there will be awkward silence or you will hear a “huh” or “uh” sound.  Possibly the caller will actually tell you what their favorite color is, so you will have to be prepared with a witty and funny response, or possibly a statement such as “that is not a color, but a shade”, which will start a debate with the caller.  A debate could be something fun and different today!  🙂

I know why we will snuggle after eating a whole roll of Tollhouse cookie dough – our blood sugar will be so high, we’ll be close to diabetic coma!  That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!  Wink!  😉
