A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (18)

Marry someone who will suffer well with you, because there will be much suffering during the life journey.  – Unknown

DATE NIGHT

When we are planning a wedding, we often get wrapped up in the aesthetics and tend to ignore the substance.  We want the perfect flowers, dresses and décor.  It’s almost like we get to the point we’re so tired after all that planning, we say, “Vows?  What vows???”  But…  there are vows – and they are meant to be kept for LIFE.  Think about it – it’s a sobering thought, isn’t it?  Yeah – it’s meant to be.

What were those vows?  Ah…  now it’s coming back to me.

Groom: I, Larry, take thee, Linda, to be my wedded Wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I plight thee my troth.

Bride: I, Linda, take thee, Larry, to be my wedded Husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, cherish, and to obey, till death us do part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I give thee my troth.

Then, as Larry placed the ring on my finger, he said the following:

With this Ring I thee wed, with my body I thee worship, and with all my worldly goods I thee endow: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

LOVE, HONOR, CHERISH
LOVE, HONOR, CHERISH

Love means, for better or worse, you are committed to caring for the heart of someone else. You are willing to die to yourself, to compromise, to share, to believe, to keep the promise even when it hurts.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Prepare for painful moments – painful hours – painful days.  When the times are good or worth celebrating – do it with all your might, but when you are in pain, keep those good days – those good memories – at the forefront.  Think about the good as you go through the bad.  God has every situation in His very capable hands.  Trust Him for all the answers.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

TL ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY (3)
On this day in 1920 the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the right to vote, was formally adopted into the United States Constitution .  Its two sections read:

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

I must say this is important to me as a Republican conservative woman.  I do not take my right to vote for granted.  Since I was old enough to vote, I’ve done so.

Patriotism is easy to understand in America – it means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country.  – Calvin Coolidge

I’m a conservative Christian American woman and I vote. Want some apple pie?

I do more than make a mean apple pie!  My ears are open and my mouth is shut.  I want to hear something good from the Republican party.  I want to hear someone say they have a plan – I’m tired of hearing that they don’t like the other side’s plan – duh – none of us do!  Give me substance in your thought process, not just empty rhetoric!  I’m tired of tippy-toeing around because I might offend someone.  If my faith offends you – oh well…   TOUGH TOENAILS!  P.C. is strangling us!  We are a diverse nation – that’s what makes us so great!  Let’s be different – yes!  Don’t be afraid to believe what you believe.  I need the same freedom.

America was founded on Christian principles and beliefs.  Taking God out of things will never take Him away from me.  Did it ever occur to you that this country is in such a mess because its people have turned their backs on God?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.  – 2 Chronicles 7:14

Well, we have another election in 2016.  I’ll be voting if I’m alive.  Until then, I’m listening to candidates and studying policies, but above all else, I’m praying that God will direct the right person to run for office and win the election.  I want God’s divine hand involved in America again.  We need His help whether we think we do or not.  🙂
