JOHN 10:9 ON 10/9

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.  – John 10:9

Christ Jesus is the way, truth, life…  and the gate.  Once we have come to a saving knowledge of Christ, we have true freedom.  I’m reminded of a butterfly when I think of real freedom.  They go where they want to go…  we’re like that – we have the freedom to be everything we can be in life.  Nothing can stop us from being the best beings we can be!  Let’s find pasture – be free…  FLY!

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You exist in perfect harmony. May Your Spirit dwell in us that the world might see You, and believe.  – Bobby Fulks

We need to ditch the stigmas and labels of society.  What happened to the Golden Rule:  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  What has happened to us as a society?  I’ve decided there’s not a thing I can do about anybody else or their attitudes…  but with God’s help in Christ, there is a ton of stuff I can do to make my attitude SHINE.  I’m determined to be a shining example in a society that is clearly taking a turn in the wrong direction.

all-the-same

I love butterflies because they remind us that we can change who and what we are simply by giving us the wings to fly higher and higher. Don’t allow others to clip your wings by the labels and stigmas they attach to you. Realize that you have the greatest power to change your destiny. Change may be tough but once you realize its worth there is nothing that can stop you from maintaining and continuing your journey upward.  – Ellen Sherman.

Thank you, Ellen, for letting me share your quote and this lovely statue from your beautiful garden!  I’m so blessed to call you FRIEND.

I want to be God’s butterfly – rising above it all.  With God’s help, I’m determined to ditch stigmas and labels, knowing that God created all sorts of butterflies…  all sizes and colors!  He made each species and declared, “It is good.”  How boring would this world be if we were all the same?  What if there were only Monarch butterflies and no other species?  Ridiculous, right?  The same applies to us as people.  It’s our differences that make us so wonderful.  When will we learn that lesson?

When we learn to stop judging another person and begin to pray for them instead…  wow, what a wonderful world this would be!  Today I pray that you will fly like a butterfly…  free and unencumbered by labels or stigmas.  Instead of judging someone, judge yourself next to God’s Word.  When each of us stand before our Maker, that’s the only judgment that will matter.

I don’t know about you, but I want to hear my Lord say, “Well done good and faithful servant.  Enter now unto thy rest.”  I know the Bible tells us that there will be no tears in Heaven…  but I gotta say, how could I possibly hear those words from God Himself and not weep???  I’m crying now…  pass the tissues!

This butterfly just wants to fly to her final rest knowing that all is well between me and thee…  and me and my Father in Heaven.  Vertical and horizontal…  like the CROSS of Christ – the sign of the cross.  Keep the way clear – there’s nothing between my soul and my Savior.  🙂

NATIONAL MOTH WEEK

TL 7-23 thru 7-31 NATIONAL MOTH WEEKMost of the moths in our part of the country are not as pretty as the photo on today’s banner.  Ours tend to be fuzzy little dark brown critters and nothing as pretty as their cousins the butterflies.  insect-626199_1920

This week we pay homage to the humble little moth, a creature that God made and apparently wanted to save and saw to it that a couple made it to Noah’s ark.  What are the differences between butterflies and moths?  moth-butterfly-differences

Moths make up the order Lepidoptera, one of the major groups of insects. There are over 150,000 species of moths!  They live around the world, inhabiting forests, meadows, fields and human houses.  Since they destroy certain fruit and crops, they are classified as pests.  Moths can range in size from smaller than a pencil tip to bigger than a songbird.

Moths are usually active at night and rest during the day in a preferred wooded habitat.

So they aren’t just the drab little brown creatures that hang around our porch light and cling to our screens at night in the summertime.  Who knew?  I didn’t know there were folks out there interested in raising them.

The beautiful Luna moth does not have a mouth — so cannot eat — and will live only for about one week, with the singular purpose of mating!  There’s a small group of moths called “bird dropping” moths.  Yep – it’s because that’s what they look like when they are at rest.

Here’s a resource for anyone who wants to know more about moths.  It was written with the beginner in mind and is easy to understand.

Did you know that moths like beer?  The Nature Conservancy writes, “Nothing attracts these guys like beer.  A tip from our scientists:  Mix a paste of beer, brown sugar and banana.  Paint it on some trees, kick back and relax, then check back in the evening with your flashlight to see the multitude of moths you’re sure to attract.”

The next time you are outside and see the moths gathered by your porch light or clinging to your screen door, think about some of the fun facts you’ve learned here.  🙂

LUKE 5:31 ON 5/31

LUKE 5 31 ON 5 31

Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”  – Luke 5:31

I’m going to take this opportunity to discuss an issue.  When I attended church at a building with a group of people, I often heard this about church attendance:

You are not too bad to come in.  You are not too good to stay out.

Ugh…  sometimes it is just a matter of not fitting in or feeling like an outcast.  It’s not about too bad or too good…  it’s about being a puzzle piece that tries to fit into the wrong puzzle.  I’m a puzzle piece without a puzzle.  I’m leaning on Dr. Jesus to help me find the right puzzle.

Dr. Jesus is on-call 24/7 for all the sick.  All who need His love, care, compassion and Salvation.

When your soul was saved by Jesus, did anything change?  That’s a question I’ve heard time and again.  Did you get wings?  Well, yes – in a way you probably did get wings – in your soul.  Dr. Jesus did that for you!  The moment you gave your life to Christ, you felt lighter and wanted to smile all the time.  You looked the brightest you’ve ever looked.  I know – me too!

Dr. Jesus does more than save souls – He keeps them safe and filled with joy!  He does a better job than the tea tree oil in Herbal Essences Tea-Lightfully Clean Shampoo!

Healing of hearts, souls and minds…  Dr. Jesus is interested in us.  He cares about our lives and wants to help us.

Once Dr. Jesus has helped us, it’s up to us to let others know He wants to help them too.  If the thought of witnessing makes you break out in a cold sweat, you’re not alone.  It really comes down to sharing the best thing that’s ever happened to you – with someone else.  Suddenly it’s not as scary.  Dr. Jesus will help you.  🙂

ROMANS 5:5 ON 5/5

ROMANS 5 5 ON 5 5

CHOOSE HOPE

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.  – Romans 5:5

There’s a high quality of hope from God’s Holy Spirit that gives us a literal supernatural boost to fly in the right direction.  If we seek hope from any other source, we will be disappointed in the end.  The superficial brand of hope offered by sources on planet earth is thin and short-lived.  For instance, last night I was sitting in front of my T.V. when a familiar weight loss company’s commercial played.  I listened to the words closely.  The spokesperson made many promises including, happiness, health, longevity and even a better love life.  In other words, they promised to give a sense of well-being and hope!

The wings of hope carry us, soaring high above the driving winds of life.  – Ana Jacob

The hope that God’s Holy Spirit freely pours out into our hearts promises to never disappoint!  It is HOPE for any situation and it is custom-made just for you from God Himself!

All it takes is one bloom of hope to make a spiritual garden.  – Terri Guillemets

I may need hope from God for one thing – and maybe you need it for another.  I don’t know about you, but I refuse to accept cheap hope from worldly sources.  I want the good stuff that only God can give me!

Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.  – Christopher Reeve

Today if you feel a bit hopeless and need your tank filled, don’t settle for anything less than the Holy Spirit’s own brand of hope!  It’s a matter of exercising your faith and trust in Him.  As we extend more faith, He pours His hope on us and the result will be miraculous and that custom-made, cozy coat of hope will give us just exactly what God wants us to have – because He loves us more than anyone!  🙂
