The Lord’s Great Victory Over the Nations

38 The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of[a] Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of[b] Meshek and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. Persia, Cush[c] and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.

“‘Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them. After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety. You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.

10 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme. 11 You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people—all of them living without walls and without gates and bars. 12 I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land.[d] 13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages[e] will say to you, “Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?”’

14 “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it? 15 You will come from your place in the far north, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army. 16 You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.

17 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You are the one I spoke of in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel. At that time they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them. 18 This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord. 19 In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’

39 “Son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of[f] Meshek and Tubal. I will turn you around and drag you along. I will bring you from the far north and send you against the mountains of Israel. Then I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows drop from your right hand. On the mountains of Israel you will fall, you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to all kinds of carrion birds and to the wild animals. You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Sovereign Lord. I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the Lord.

“‘I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the Lord am the Holy One in Israel. It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign Lord. This is the day I have spoken of.

“‘Then those who live in the towns of Israel will go out and use the weapons for fuel and burn them up—the small and large shields, the bows and arrows, the war clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel. 10 They will not need to gather wood from the fields or cut it from the forests, because they will use the weapons for fuel. And they will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the Sovereign Lord.

11 “‘On that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, in the valley of those who travel east of the Sea. It will block the way of travelers, because Gog and all his hordes will be buried there. So it will be called the Valley of Hamon Gog.[g]

12 “‘For seven months the Israelites will be burying them in order to cleanse the land. 13 All the people of the land will bury them, and the day I display my glory will be a memorable day for them, declares the Sovereign Lord. 14 People will be continually employed in cleansing the land. They will spread out across the land and, along with others, they will bury any bodies that are lying on the ground.

“‘After the seven months they will carry out a more detailed search. 15 As they go through the land, anyone who sees a human bone will leave a marker beside it until the gravediggers bury it in the Valley of Hamon Gog, 16 near a town called Hamonah.[h] And so they will cleanse the land.’

17 “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Call out to every kind of bird and all the wild animals: ‘Assemble and come together from all around to the sacrifice I am preparing for you, the great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You will eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth as if they were rams and lambs, goats and bulls—all of them fattened animals from Bashan. 19 At the sacrifice I am preparing for you, you will eat fat till you are glutted and drink blood till you are drunk. 20 At my table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, mighty men and soldiers of every kind,’ declares the Sovereign Lord.

21 “I will display my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the punishment I inflict and the hand I lay on them. 22 From that day forward the people of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God. 23 And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their offenses, and I hid my face from them.

25 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will now restore the fortunes of Jacob[i] and will have compassion on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name. 26 They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety in their land with no one to make them afraid. 27 When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations. 28 Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. 29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.”  – Ezekiel 38 & 39

Some denominations focus on prophecy more than others.  In our little Southern Baptist church, we didn’t do many studies about future events or prophecy.  I’ve been in some churches that only talk about prophecy.  Each one is different and I’m not saying one is better than the other.  I enjoy studying prophecy under someone with real knowledge on the subject because I want to be wise and watch for signs of the times.

One of the few things that stuck in my head from a prophecy Bible study I was a part of several years ago was a verse that declared that the BEAR would come down from the NORTH.  I know enough to know that the bear refers to Russia and Israel is located directly south of Russia.  The hook in the jaw is like a bridle on a horse.  God’s going to be in control of what happens and when.  He will literally guide it as a bridle on a horse.

I understand why people just shrug their shoulders and say it’s all just too complicated to follow – but we need to try to understand prophecy because we need to see the pieces fall together as God says they will – every time I see a new piece fit into place, my faith gets stronger, doesn’t yours???  It’s like WOW – this is really going to happen!  If we stay true to the very end…  we shall be with the LORD…  FOREVER!  Amen!!!

It’s my prayer that as you read this Scripture, you will visualize all of these countries and get an idea of how things will happen – and also that it will take some of the fear from your heart – I especially like the part about how GOD IS IN CONTROL of all of it.  I really REALLY like that part.

gog_magog_warPart of the confusion stems from the fact that the names of these countries has changed from the time the passage was written.  I found this map that helps clarify that just a bit.

Is it just me, or are we hearing about Russia and Putin more now than ever in the news?  It seemed like we didn’t hear much about them for the longest time, but suddenly it’s all about them.  And China – good land of the livin’, that’s Trump’s broken record, and for good reason.  Will these two form an alliance against the tiny but blessed nation of Israel?  I’m not a prophet, but it sure seems to me that the stage is set for a Russian invasion of Israel.  I’ve even heard some say that Putin could very well be the anti-Christ.  I’m just reporting what I hear preached.

Our next President needs to know why it’s important to back Israel…  jus’ sayin’…

Statistically speaking – 1/3 die in nuclear fire and earthquakes… then 1/3 die of pestilence and famine and the Christian hunt… which means beheadings by sword.  Then the Lord comes back to take His own home with Him at the last trumpet.

I'LL BE ON JESUS' SIDE

TIME IS SHORT…  JESUS IS COMING FOR HIS OWN VERY SOON!!!  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

WHAT IF YOU PRAYED

Ants will not cross a line drawn with chalk.

If a Christian disagrees with something and is opinionated, why is it wrong to take action?  If we fall to our knees and pray and are subsequently led to put feet to our faith and our convictions, why is that a bad thing?  Sometimes I express a desire to stand up against something, but instead of other Christians having my back, they tell me that I need to just stay calm and keep praying.  In other words – do nothing.

Did God not give us brains to use?  Did He not give us the gift of discernment?  If I have prayed about something and am impressed by God to put feet to my faith, why do I not get support for that?

I get so tired of the Christian army sometimes.  It really is the only army that shoots its own soldiers!  I thought we were fighting against the prince of this world, but it seems that so often we are fighting each other.  Doesn’t that make the devil laugh?  It does – and that’s not funny.

Isn’t it a better to pray for people when we think they are going off to act on something that we think may need more prayer power behind it?  I mean, if it really needs more prayer power behind it – what does it hurt to add your prayers with theirs – instead of criticizing them for taking action in the first place?

We are not ants – and God has not drawn a line with chalk that we are not to cross.  Life is messy and there is evil and wicked to fight – yes, with prayer first – but then we are to put feet to our faith.  That is my belief.  If I find out that Christians are in the midst of a fight they feel passionate about, the last thing I’m going to tell them is to back off and pray about it – when I know they began the fight with prayer.  I’m thankful for folks who jump in to affect change in the country – ultimately in the world.  Why do you think Dr. Carson wants to be president?  What if he had not got in the race?  I rest my case.

It makes me nuts when brothers and sisters in Christ tell me I’m wrong to take action against evil.  I know that prayer is the most important part of war, believe me.  It’s my belief that most people should get up and go further.  Pray – but then move!  God does not draw a line with chalk.  God’s children are not ants, or at least they shouldn’t be.  He works THROUGH His children – but if His children decide to stay in the prayer closet, He can still work – but not through you if you refuse to leave the closet.  Yes, being a good prayer warrior is a wonderful and crucial ministry, but when God tells you to act, you need to act.

God has given us able minds and bodies to take action.  So once a Christian has prayed about something, don’t be so quick to discourage them from putting feet to their faith if they are led to do so by God’s Holy Spirit.  What if we encouraged our brothers and sisters in their endeavors, trusting that they have been to the mountain and talked with God about it?   How refreshing that would be!  🙂

ESTHER 4:14 ON 4/14

ESTHER 4 14 ON 4 14

If at this time you say nothing, then help and salvation will come to the Jews from some other place, but you and your father’s family will come to destruction: and who is to say that you have not come to the kingdom even for such a time as this?  – Esther 4:14

As Christians in America, we have a few choices to make.  Oh yes, we can choose because God loves us enough to give us free will.  Are some of the choices easy to make?  No, they are not.  When we consider whether we should stay silent or speak out, it requires some soul searching and prayer beforehand.  These days being a Christian in America is more difficult than it was in years past.

GOD SEES EVERY HEART

Our own president said that America is no longer a Christian nation.  Was that wishful thinking on his part?  I believe it was his way of saying that the Christians will be given a run for their money and we should put our money where our mouth is.  If we are true Christians, prove it.  Would you die because you are a Christian?  Many Christians worldwide have already.  There seems to be no outrage in the Christian community over that and I wonder why.

Some of it is that we just don’t know what we can do about it.  We pray for Christians in foreign lands.  Not that prayer is a last resort – it always sounds like that is what we mean, but that’s not it.  We know that prayer is our first line of defense at all times.  We pray without ceasing – over every thought we think and every word we say.

We read Scripture and find out what God would have us do.  Then we read the book of Esther and we have to wonder if God has put us here – at this time – in this place – for such a time as this.  Some will be called to action while the rest of us remain in prayer for them.  Our military and hopefully eventually our government needs to be on board to protect the homeland.

May God bless Israel.  May God bless the United States of America.

For such a time as this.  🙂

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

TL ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY (4)

10-27 WHILE THEY WERE STONING HIM

While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”  – Acts 7:59

On this day in 1659, two Quakers, William Robinson and Marmaduke Stevenson, were executed (hanged from an elm tree on Boston Common in Boston) in the Massachusetts Bay Colony for their religious beliefs.  They were the first Quakers to be executed in America.   They came from England in 1656 to escape religious persecution – ironically.  The two had violated a law passed by the Massachusetts General Court the year before, banning Quakers from the colony under penalty of death.

The Christian movement known as The Religious Society of Friends, or Quakers, was founded by George Fox in England during the early 1650’s.  Quakers opposed central church authority, preferring to seek spiritual insight and consensus through egalitarian Quaker meetings.  They supported sexual equality and became some of the most outspoken opponents of slavery in early America.  Quakers found solace in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and other colonies, and Massachusetts’ anti-Quaker laws were later repealed.

By the mid 18th century, John Woolman, an abolitionist Quaker, was traveling the American colonies, preaching and advancing the anti-slavery cause.  He organized boycotts of products made by slave labor and was responsible for convincing many Quaker communities to publicly denounce slavery.  Other abolitionist Quaker was Lucretia Mott, who worked on the Underground Railroad in the 19th century, helping lead fugitive slaves to freedom in the Northern states and Canada.  She was later a leader in the movement for women’s rights, including the right to vote.

If you want to live and thrive, let the spider run alive.   – American Quaker Saying

Seriously?  Can I have a minute to let that one sink in???  Um…  no – I’m squishing the spider.  😉

I’m not a Quaker – but I like movies like Friendly Persuasion and Angel and the Badman.  To be perfectly honest, I’ve always thought of Quakers as I do the Amish.  I was surprised when I read their history and how liberal their beliefs are.  They have no central church authority and believe in true equality.  They are peace-loving folk that won’t be a part of war.

Now that terrorists are running around beheading people I wonder if that will work – but that’s their belief.

Me – I want to learn how to shoot and carry.  Well – maybe not – but I’m tempted.

Christians in America have really not known persecution – yet.  So far, we certainly have not had to give our very lives for our faith.  I’m so thankful for the sacrifices of the past that ultimately affected changes for the good, aren’t you?  They stood strong so that future generations could enjoy freedom and equality and know real joy in the Lord.  😀

WE PRAY FOR PEACE

PRAY FOR ISRAEL

I doubt I’ll ever get to the Holy Land, but I enjoy the “tours” via You Tube! Israel belongs to God and He will protect His own against evil. Hamas and Jihad are evil. They want to kill and view their own death as gain if they kill others in the process. It’s totally backward to the Christian’s belief system. That’s why we have a difficult time wrapping our minds around it. It’s so messed up!

Our Lord taught us to be loving and forgiving and turn the other cheek. Hamas is all about destruction and they don’t think twice about it. We pray for God’s people. We pray for Israel every day! There have been reports in the enemy newspapers about how Israel’s God protects them. They admit it – and that makes me want to do the Holy Ghost Happy Dance! I love hearing accounts that God intervenes and protects His own! Praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow!

But think about it… it’s just like Jesus to roll the clouds away!

Amen, sister!

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:1-4

I don’t question God’s methods – I don’t know whether He Himself is protecting Israel or whether He has sent angels to do it, but I’m thankful for His mighty hand being there. It’s my prayer that His protection will stay on Israel.

How do we as Christians pray for Israel? We just humbly bow our heads and say:

Dear Heavenly Father,
We pray for peace in Jerusalem. Our hearts are broken when we see the violence and suffering as men, women and children are injured and killed on both sides of the conflict. We don’t understand why it has to be this way, nor do we truly know if war is right or wrong, but we pray for Your sovereign righteousness, Lord. We pray for Your wisdom in the midst of this war and for Your mercy. For the governments, militants and terrorists, we ask for Your kingdom to come and rule over the land. Protect the soldiers and civilians from bloodshed. May Your truth and light shine in the darkness. God, we do not understand the way Hamas and Jihad believe because we have been taught to love and forgive. They have been taught to hate and kill – to the point where they give their own life in the process and see it as gain in the afterlife. We can’t wrap our minds around that sort of theology. Dear God, in this land where only hatred and death are known, please somehow let Your love prevail in their midst! Help me as a Christian to support those who You support, Lord, and to bless those who You bless, my God. In this mess please bring about the saving hope of Your Son, Jesus Christ to the people of Israel, dear God. Bring Your salvation to the whole earth.
It’s in the precious name of Jesus we pray,
Amen.

THANK YOU KIND SIR

My father was a Veteran of WWII. He fought in the battle of the Aleutian Islands from June 1942 through August 1943. Japanese garrisons were established on a pair of islands owned by the United States, west of Alaska. Japan had seized the uninhabited islands of Attu and Kiska, in the Aleutian Islands. It was the only land that Japan would claim that belonged to the U.S. during the war. It’s believed the Japanese held the two islands to prevent the U.S. from invading Japan via the Aleutian islands.

The occupation was a blow to American morale. In May, 1943, U.S. troops retook Attu and three months later reclaimed Kiska. This experience helped them prepare for the long “island-hopping” battles to come as WWII raged across the Pacific Ocean.

I am so proud that my daddy was a part of that and he survived and was able to come home and enjoy the rest of his life with mom and me. The sad thing is that he died at age 62, unable to retire and really enjoy his “golden years”.

I give this background because I feel I need to explain why I feel so patriotic at times. I tear up when I hear the National Anthem. I feel pride for the soldiers in this country. The men who are willing to go fight for our freedom should be paid more than the men wearing helmets out on a football field – to be sure!

Today the most wonderful thing happened. I don’t believe anything in this life is coincidence and this is no exception. I was walking out of the Village Inn restaurant toward my car. A car pulled into the stall next to mine. I stood behind my car waiting for the folks to get out of their car so I could get in to mine. I watched a frail little woman come around the car from the driver’s side. She opened the passenger side and an older gentleman got out. He was a little bent, but his cap caught my attention. He was a Vietnam Veteran.

I debated in my mind and said a quick prayer. Should I speak or not? At that moment, as though God allowed me to see it, I saw the silver cross he wore around his neck – it was like God was telling me it would be alright to speak. I did.

We had the most wonderful conversation! They told me about their married life and traveling all over the country. It touched my spirit to hear about how they made a home wherever they went and raised their family. They told me they would not choose a different life if they could. Isn’t that what it’s all about? Their love of God and country reinforced my sense of patriotism and made me even more proud to be an American!

Just before they went in to the restaurant and before I got in my car, I mentioned that I was spending the entire week of Independence Day in prayer for America. They asked if I’d mind if we agreed in prayer for America and it was an awesome season of prayer and I knew God was in the center of that circle!

What a great day to go out for lunch, huh??? God bless America – and America, bless God!

PEARL HARBOR DAY

TL 12-7 PEARL HARBOR DAY

AMERICAN FLAG
FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

No one deserves more honor and respect from Americans than our Veterans.

Daddy in the 1940's
J.L. Turner – Veteran of WWII

My daddy was in the U.S. Navy, a WWII Veteran. He served in the Aleutian Islands. Obviously, as time marches on, fewer of these wonderful WWII Veterans are around to honor. They deserve nothing short of our best.

There’s a very sad and disturbing trend in our country these days. There seems to be no regard for anything that happened in the past. This is a dangerous place to be, for if we do not study the history of our country we will surely make the same mistakes again. We need to take more interest in the past to avoid a very slippery slope in the future.

At 7:48 a.m. on December 7, 1941, 353 Japanese fighter planes bombed U.S. air bases across the Hawaiian island of Oahu. It turned into what Franklin Delano Roosevelt called “a day that will live in infamy.” The attack happened in two waves, which lasted about 90 minutes, and in that time the Japanese succeeded in sinking or damaging 18 ships – including all eight U.S. battleships, which were a symbol of U.S. naval excellence – and destroying or damaging over 350 aircraft. And in less than two hours, the Japanese had killed 2,402 Americans and wounded 1,282 more.

The attack on Pearl Harbor stunned the U.S. Navy, which had been completely unprepared for such an event. Men aboard the U.S. ships being bombed woke up to the shrill sounds of bells and alarms and the famous message sent from the naval headquarters in Hawaii: “Air Raid Pearl Harbor. This is not a drill.”

we never forget. ❤
