A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

We have inexpressible JOY…  you know what the world is asking right now???  They’re asking, “How???  Why???”.  Those who do not accept Christ Jesus and His precious Holy Spirit into their hearts and lives, do not understand inexpressible joy.  It’s only by accepting Christ Jesus by faith into your heart and life that you can experience a joy that can not be explained.  It’s better felt than telt…  because I can’t explain it with words.  Words are not adequate – but true faith in the Lord and Savior Christ Jesus is how we experience His amazing joy, love, grace, and mercy.  And He rewards us with these things because He longs to have a relationship with His creation.  He wants to love us and for our love and faithfulness in return.  Sometimes our faith gets tested…  major big time!

You know about the fires in California, right?  Take a look at this photograph – everything around it is in ashes, but this cross still stands!  What a wonderful reminder that no matter what is being destroyed in our lives, Christ and His cross can never be destroyed if they are in your heart and life!  When I saw this picture, my eyes filled with tears and once again I prayed for the folks there whose homes are being destroyed.  May they have the joy of the Lord along with His strength and wisdom through this situation.  I pray God will bless them with everything they need – and I pray that God will bless with some wants as well.

We don’t follow a list of rules and get zapped by lightning if we step out-of-bounds.  We are obedient to God because we love Him and are so thankful for the horrific sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross at Calvary.  He took the sins of the world – past, present, future – on His shoulders!  We are saved from an eternity in hell.  There is a reason we should love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls and minds.  As the years go by and we see His marvelous works in our lives, we just love and trust Him more and more!  This is how we get the inexpressible, undeniable, precious JOY of the Lord.  What does the joy of the Lord do for us?  Why do we cherish it so much?  Well, a verse comes to mind:

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.  – Psalm 28:7

He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.  It sounds like a GOOD thing to me – doesn’t it sound like a GOOD thing to you?  No matter what is going on in your life, the Savior of your soul can be trusted to make a way and provide answers.  The way and the answers may not be in your time, but believe me when I say, there will come a time when you look back and say, “Oh, now I understand God’s timing in that situation!”  That’s why the longer you trust God, the stronger your faith gets.  You’ve seen so many ways God has helped you in the past – so you know without a doubt that He has all the problems in the present and the ones coming in the future under control.

I’m assured that whatever comes along in my life, God and His precious Holy Spirit will pour out His love, peace and joy on me.  When we are fully trusting in the Lord, it’s not a superficial happiness that we’re given, but it’s joy that lasts in our lives regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in.  That’s why it’s called inexpressible – and to the world, I would go further and say they think it doesn’t exist.  Ah…  but if you know the Lord, you know better!

I want to show you a photo of JOY!!!  This is Madi, and I hope her middle name is Joy, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t..  If I ever get to meet her, she will be JOY to me!  She’s such a bright, shiny star and lights up any room!

I’VE GOT THE JOY, JOY, JOY, JOY DOWN IN MY HEART! DOWN IN MY HEART TO STAY!

Have faith, children of God.  Keep praying and keep showing the world the joy that God gives you to share.  🙂

MATTHEW 6:25 ON 6/25

MATTHEW 6 25 ON 6 25

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  – Matthew 6:25-26

We live in a world that seems quite focused on food, drink and fashion, don’t we?  It’s easy to become anxious about these things because they represent immediate needs – well – when it comes to fashion clothing – let’s get real – that’s more of a want.

The older I get, the less I stress out about superficial things – especially fashion clothing.  Frankly, at this stage in my life, I can’t tell you what the newest fashions are.  It’s great to get to the point in your life when you know what you’re comfortable wearing – and you don’t really care what anyone else thinks.

Stress and anxiety in life will happen.  It’s what we do with it that makes a difference.  If we as Christians can just remember to hand that concern over to God through Christ, trusting that He will take care of us, we will be so much better off in the long run.

The Bible tells us that God cares about the little sparrow – and if He cares about them, how much more does He care about us?

Know today that God will provide every need you have.  No, He may not do it the way you would, but that’s why He’s the all-knowing God and you’re not.  😉

We all have needs every day and God knows what they are and He will provide.  Yes, sometimes the needs all seem to crop up at the same time, but that’s when we need to keep trusting God to help us.  He cares about us – He really does!  🙂

MATTHEW 6:24 ON 6/24

MATTHEW 6 24 ON 6 24

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.  – Matthew 6:24

We know we should serve God and not money…  but how should we serve God?  Is it by serving each other?

THE CHRISTIAN JOURNEY

I’ve heard money described as a necessary evil.  Unfortunately, in this ol’ world, we just need to have money – because no matter how many ROLLBACKS they have at Walmart, I’ve yet to see anything that says FREE!

There are people who put the almighty dollar on the throne of their heart – a place where only God should dwell – and that’s when it gets dicey and dangerous for Christians.  It’s not bad to have money if you don’t put a greater value on it than on God.

Most of us have read the back of the Bible – and we know that the dollar we work so hard to earn will one day be as worthless as the paper it’s printed on.  The real value of the dollar is not what it used to be – and it’s getting more worthless every day.

I read an article about how they will soon be putting a chip in all credit / debit cards to avoid identity theft.  I told my husband about this and we just looked at each other – and he said, “They’ll figure it out – probably pretty soon.”   I believe the next step will be to implant a chip under the skin of every person in the world.  I believe Jesus is coming…  SOON!!!

Christians know – we know that the green paper with the picture of the presidents on it – well, it will not be the most important thing when it’s all said and done.  In the past, people have lied for it, deceived for it, embezzled to get it and killed for it.

We know that money is the root of all evil – but it is something we need to have because it is the accepted token of trade for those things we need and want in this world.

As Christians we need to remember that it is God who supplies our needs – and can I let you in on a little secret?  He cares about the things we want as well.  He really does!  Have you ever wondered how something is going to work out and you may receive a refund check from a company that tells you that you’ve over-paid a bill?

I love the way God provides for His own.  He will never forsake us.  There’s a whole world out there that doesn’t have a clue about the prophecy in the Bible that is revealed – that there is coming a day when we won’t be able to use money to make purchases – that they will need a chip in the back of the right hand or the forehead.  Once you receive that chip – that mark of the beast – you are marked as Satan’s.  It will seem like just another societal requirement – but we know it’s much more than that.  Our money says, “In God We Trust” – I pray we really do.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (2)

JULY IN THE KANSAS SKY
Back on the first day of Summer, I saw a post on facebook that said, “The first one to criticize the hot temperatures is going to get smacked after the awful winter we just survived!” I had to laugh because let’s face it… it’s just plain HOT outside! So, yeah – go ahead – SMACK me!

Don’t knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn’t start a conversation if it didn’t change once in a while. – Kin Hubbard

That’s not a bad little song to get stuck in your head, is it? For once the phrase GREAT GAIN means something positive! I usually use that phrase to mean I’ve over-indulged on food again. In that case, the GREAT means a large amount, which is not something good – **sigh**.

The apostle Paul had a few words of instruction on the subject of contentment:

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. – Philippians 4:11-12

While I suppose we could certainly apply that instruction to something as basic as weather conditions, it’s probably meant to be applied to more personal matters. He speaks of situations rather than conditions. This is one lesson that I must admit I’m still learning and I may be learning for the rest of my life. I don’t like to want for anything. As I get older, however; it becomes clear to me that much of what I think I want is not what I need. Usually in time I realize that the things that I think are necessities are not things I need.

So today I would challenge all of us to re-examine our list of necessities. How many of those things can be moved to the want list? You may be surprised how many things you really can live without and still be quite content. Oh, and as for the weather… yes, I will be content – and run in to enjoy the wonderful air-conditioned house just as often as I can!   😉

THANKS LIVING DAY 36

TL THANKSGIVING

PRAYER TO GOD WHO OWNS ALL THINGS

There is something very freeing about knowing that the stuff you have is temporary. I know we all “know” that, but to really come to the end conclusion that it’s only stuff and will one day turn to rust – well, that gives you a brand new attitude toward life!

God is letting us borrow the things we have. He knows we have need of certain things while we live here on earth. He’s more than willing to supply all our needs (and our wants). He blesses beyond measure.

I was driving my car last Friday and heard on the radio that there are already people living out of tents in front of stores! It seems to get more crazy every year, doesn’t it? Pretty soon the “Black Friday” sales will begin in June or something! I was alone in my car – and actually laughed out loud when the D.J. said that! I thought, “How very ironic that is! Can you imagine having Thanksgiving dinner in a tent – giving thanks to God for all your bounty and adding on a little tag to your prayer – something like ‘And Lord, please let us be the first ones in the door on Black Friday.’ It’s crazy – simply insane!!!”

Maybe I’ll watch this DVD today! I think it’s what they used to call “screwball comedy” – anyway, it makes me laugh!

Our household will have a very quiet Thanksgiving. We will be thankful and will continue to be thankful on Friday as well. No shopping and no pushing and shoving at the mall. No thank you! 🙂
