Here’s the slogan for today:
WHEN SLEEP IS SOUND, HEALTH AND HAPPINESS ABOUND!!!
I sense a pattern emerging, don’t you? Daylight Savings time seriously diminishes my ability to stay awake. It really does take at least a month for me to become fully functional again. You’ve probably read the same articles I have about how they are going to stop this nonsense with the changing back and forth, but will things ever really change – or rather STOP changing? Who knows???
A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book. – Irish Proverb
It occurred to me today that while I am sleeping, God is wide awake. What a reassuring thought that I don’t have to worry about anything while I’m in dreamland. Even when I’m in a nightmare, I know God will not let it get too bad. He will see to it that I wake up in time. The big ugly dragon won’t eat me!
Are you a sound sleeper? I sure am – when I’m asleep, nothing wakes me up! If you can get a sound 8-9 hours of sleep each night, you should be set for any challenge the next day has to offer.
O bed! O bed! delicious bed!
That heaven upon earth to the weary head.
– Thomas Hood, Miss Kilmansegg — Her Dream
How many times have you heard someone say, “I don’t need to sleep. I can sleep when I’m dead.” Well, most of the time, those are the folks who have high blood pressure and drink way too much caffeine. Look, to get a good night’s sleep is not a waste of time, rather, a gift you give yourself.
There’s a need for rest. It’s the way human bodies are made – we eat, we move and then we rest. If you try to fight sleep for long, you will eventually crash and burn – it’s as simple as that. Don’t wait until you are tired to go to bed – just GO and sleep your 8 hours and start again the next day.
I know that God will be with me in all circumstances, but there’s just something about being well rested that makes my mind and body so much happier and I want to be my best every day, don’t you? So… let’s get some SLEEP, okay??? 🙂
