A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART 35

12-29 LET THE BRUISE HEAL COMPLETELY

In December 2014, I’ve seen images of perceived injustice and true injustice.  I’ve heard speeches that are a transparent attempt to pull the races further apart.  I’ve always been a Caucasian woman so I see the world through my gray eyes, but I do not wear rose-colored glasses.  I do not pretend that everything is perfect in this world, in this country or in my community.  I know as well as anyone that there is work to be done by everyone.  As a Caucasian woman I refuse to shoulder all of the responsibility but I am more than willing to meet anyone halfway.  I am prepared to do as much as I can to get along with anyone with the understanding that they will make that same effort with me.

I am not a hater.  I am not a divider.  I am not any label that anyone wants to stick on me.

I’ve prayed throughout the month of December, and I have been led by the Lord to write this post.  I know it’s not giddy and fun, but when I began writing this blog I promised God that I would do so with my ears open to HIS leading.  This is HIS blog and always has been (it always will be).

Hear me people – my civil rights END at the tip of my nose and so do yours.  Once I begin making demands that make my rights seem more important than yours, I am treading on your rights and diminishing them.  True equality will not come to pass with violence of any kind or with harsh speeches that make others feel less protected and more threatened.

I want nothing between my Lord and I in 2015.  I want to be just as close to Him as I can get.  There is no room for judgment, hate or evil when God is with me and His Holy Spirit is guiding me.

That’s the bottom line – if it is peace we want in our country – an INDIVISIBLE country, as we say in the Pledge of Allegiance – then it comes down to each person deciding to chase after it with a sense of real purpose.  I want that and vow to pray for America and be the person I know God wants me to be in the upcoming year.

Remember the GOLDEN RULE???  It seems to be a bit tarnished nowadays.  Let’s shine it up with the cloth of God’s love and let HIS LOVE shine through us to everyone in 2015!

I’m just one voice – one Caucasian woman, writing what God laid on my heart to write.  I was obedient.  I can’t change a heart or a mind.  THAT is up to God.  ❤

MERRY CHRISTMAS

TL MERRY CHRISTMAS

CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS

Christmas in the secular progressive world is a lot of smoke and mirrors. It is blown out of proportion and a great deal of hype with very little satisfaction in the long run. It’s a season of tacky over-indulgence. It’s an excuse to go big and be loud and put a decoration on everything that will stand still – and a few decorations on things that won’t stand still. For example, my neighbor likes to dress her little dog in Christmas sweaters. I appreciate that she wants to keep her pet warm, but the poor baby looks as though it’s heading for the North Pole to pay Santa a visit! I have no evidence of this, but I suspect the dog has more sweaters than the owner. Hmm… what’s wrong with this picture?

Over the top decorations and happy happy happy emotions that are based on nothing. I find it interesting that non-Christians are celebrating a Christian holiday in a pagan fashion. How empty their souls must feel. What foundation is set? Oh yes, toys for children and adults alike. But the toys will break or rust. They celebrate not the birth of a Savior – but the brief moment of happiness they can bring to a child with a toy or two. It could be so much more than that, you know. Christmas for a Christian is not fleeting. For us, it is year-around because we have accepted Christ into our hearts and lives – not just at Christmastime, but for all time.

Do you want the faith, hope and love that only Christ can give you?  Would you like to recalculate your course? You can. It’s simple.

Take a moment to meditate with God’s Holy Word, The Bible. Listen to this recording of the book of Luke or read it for yourself and think about the account of the birth of Christ, the Savior of the world. Let the truth sink deep into your heart – into your spirit. Then you will understand the depth of what this Christian celebration is all about! Meditate.  Then recalculate in prayer… Christ is waiting.

PRAYER ABOUT CHURCH
There is a distinct difference between joy and happiness. To break it down even more, there is a huge difference between the kind of joy the world knows and the awesome joy that a Christian has the privilege to enjoy. Did you hear the word I just used – ENJOY. When a Christian speaks of something they ENJOY – it is with a joy that the world does not know and cannot know apart from the love of Christ.

I’ve been happy, but it doesn’t last and it’s certainly not an emotion that I would want to hang my hopes on. Happiness is fickle and largely dependent on mood and is quite emotional. Joy, particularly the Joy of the Lord, brings something more. It’s difficult to put into words because I feel it in my spirit – my soul. The joy of the Lord is my strength. It lifts me higher and gives me courage to do the difficult tasks in life. It lets me know that no matter how much I mess things up, God will never give up on me and He will keep me in His strong, loving hand. I’m in good hands – and it’s not Allstate insurance. It’s better. 😉

MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day is a day of reflection. It’s a day to remember those who were once here with us but now are not. We loved them and they loved us. We know we will be reunited one day, but until then, there is a void. What would my family urge me to do? God is love and love covers a multitude of mistakes. I think they would tell me to love. Just love.

As we begin our stroll through my peaceful, serene labyrinth of love, let me ask you a question. What is the source of love? Where does it come from originally? Most of you know what my answer is. I believe that God is the true source of love, and apart from Him, you are not really able to love at all. Know God – know love. No God – no love. If you know God, then I hope you enjoy this little stroll through the labyrinth. If you do not know God, perhaps you can sit down on one of the simple wooden benches when you finish the walk to rest and get to know God. Can you hear the birds singing? The gardens surrounding this labyrinth are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen and there is not a more quiet place of solace to do a little soul-searching.

It’s such a perfect day to take a leisurely stroll. There are people on the outside who are running, but we are not. We are not going to hurry, but be deliberate with each step. There is nothing scheduled in your day that is of any importance. You won’t need a watch. Take your time and seek. Seek God and find the love He wants you to have.

Read just one section at a time. When you have read the scripture, close your eyes and think about what you just read. Let the thought of it sink in and talk to God about it. You can talk to Him out loud or just think a prayer – He hears your prayer either way. Imagine you are walking, reading, pondering and praying. Let’s begin.

Love comes from God:

1 John 4:7-8 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

God proved His love for us:

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 5:8 “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Some couples seem to be real soul mates and some are polar opposites trying to find some common ground. No matter which class your marriage falls in, we are taught what love should look like in our Christian marriages. I laughingly refer to these as the “bite your tongue” verses! There are times when love in marriage is a real bear! But for the sake of unity, peace and joy with your mate, you really do have to bite your tongue!

Love in Marriage:

Ephesians 4:2-3 “With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Philippians 2:2 “Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.”

There is sure victory because of love:

Romans 8:37-39 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

We are definitely instructed to love other people:

1 John 4:9-11 “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

“Love each other deeply with all your heart.” – 1 Peter 1:22b

And finally, we are told that we are to walk the walk of love and not just talk the talk.

Make sure the love you show is genuine:

1 John 3:18 “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

Have a blessed day! ❤
