PSALM 9:8 ON 9/8

TL 9-8 PSALM 9-8 ON 9-8

He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity.  – Psalm 9:8

There are times when the political tension can be cut with a knife.  I see this election cycle as one of choosing the lesser of two evils.  That’s why I want to focus on God…  because HE reigns with righteousness and judges with equity.  Once His children back away from all the distractions of this election cycle and open God’s Word…  that’s when we can say with confidence, NO MATTER WHO IS ELECTED PRESIDENT, JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!

A BOOK WITH PROMISEThe Psalms have been a source of wisdom and comfort to me.  Even though this election is pivotal to America, in my opinion, God’s Word has given me assurance that no matter what happens, it will be alright because our God is in control – and He will not be mocked.  Those who are evil and wrongdoers will be brought to justice in the end.  The wheat will be separated from the chaff and God will have the last word.

I pray that God will work in the midst of Americans during this time.  Only God is able to cut through the babble in our country and touch human hearts, minds and spirits.  We need to learn what He wants for us now more than ever.  So many have completely rejected His Holy Word.  Through ministries we pray that some will find their way back.  We trust God for the increase because we know that His Word will not return to Him void.  We plant seeds…  that’s all we do.

AMERICA ON THE ROCKAMERICA'S IN HIS HAND

I love this song – and to tell the truth, I sing it with Heather as I’m driving in my little car – windows down and sunroof open – “We’ve all been lost and we’ve all been hurt, where our hope is thin and our faith don’t work, but nothing lasts forever, the only thing that matters is God is still God and He holds it together, so hang on now.”

Thank you, Heather – I will hang on!  Today’s reminder is this…  God is still God.  He will judge as only He can.  No matter who becomes the next President in the United States, God is still God and my hope and trust is in Him alone.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (3)

I believe the book of James is probably the most difficult book in the Bible to read – not because the words are difficult to pronounce, and there are not any weird names to learn.  It’s difficult because it hits us right in the heart and mind.  The words are so clear – there is no room for misinterpretation, is there?  We get warm fuzzies when we read the book of Psalms, and we feel accomplished after we read through all the begets in some books – but James.  I read it and all I can say is…  OUCH!

The good news is, Jesus paid the price for all our sins long ago, and when I break God’s law (even the stuff found in the book of James), I have the privilege to ask almighty God through His Son, Jesus, to forgive me for my sins.  But I’m nobody special because the same opportunity is available to all who have accepted Christ Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

A LEAF IS A LEAF IS A LEAF (from Week 27 of “Coffee with Jesus”)

From a small bud

Grows a leaf.

It could be big.

It could be small.

It could be red, green or yellow.

But no matter what color,

Shape, or size it may be,

It is called a leaf.

It is the same with sin.

Whether it’s my sin,

Your sin,

Or the sin of a brother,

It is called sin.

We shouldn’t look at another

And think our sin isn’t as big;

Our sin is still our sin.

It is our wrong.  It is our debt.

It is our sin.

There is no sin too small

That doesn’t need confessed.

And there is no sin too big

That God can’t wash away.

There is not a sin worse than any other sin, although as humans we are tempted to say that one is worse than another.  The Ten Commandments are all equal and they all apply to us.  It’s easy to think of one as more or less significant, but in God’s eyes, they are really all the same.  And here’s a newsflash…  it’s not my job to keep track of your sins.  I know that may come as a shock – but nope…  really, I have enough on my plate just keeping up with my own transgressions.

When I offer to share my faith, it’s not because I think I’ve somehow “arrived” and you need to catch up with me (oh pleeeeeze)…  not even close.  I just want everyone to know Christ as their personal Savior and make heaven their home one day – that’s all.

Dear Lord, I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. You did what I could not do for myself, and in humility I accept Your gift of grace. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to You.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

As we’ve discussed in the past, nothing in this world is going to fill that place in your heart except the love of Christ – that hunger in your heart, or HEART HUNGER can only be filled by Him.

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.  But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.  For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.  For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.”  If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a law-breaker.

Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.  Mercy triumphs over judgment!  – James 2:8–13

Today’s reminder is for all of us to show more MERCY and less JUDGMENT.  I need it, you need it, and I know with God’s help through Christ Jesus, we can do this.  When we show mercy to others, God is pleased and we sparkle and shine for Him!  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART1

I had an amazing opportunity to attend a WOMEN OF FAITH conference in my hometown.  To describe the wonderful energy in that place would take every word in the dictionary!  It was definitely a highlight in my life and I felt so blessed that my very good friend saw to it that I got a ticket.  God makes my path cross with so many great people!

I was standing in the line for the restroom (well, of course I was – duh!)  I was not eavesdropping on purpose…  really I wasn’t.  I could not help but overhear a conversation between the lady behind me and her friend standing behind her.  Then I heard it – OH MY GOD!!!

I cringed…  I hear it in the “WORLD” all the time – and I deal with it because that’s what has to happen.  I’m not a baby – I know there are ignorant people in the world who don’t know they are offending a real person.  More than offending actually – taking His name – His Holy, Righteous, Name above all Names…  IN VAIN.  It’s a COMMANDMENT – one of the BIG TEN, in fact.THOU SHALT NOT

I expect ignorance OUT THERE – but I was IN HERE – in this meeting with WOMEN OF FAITH.  I wonder if people in the church remember that we’re supposed to be DIFFERENT than the ones outside the church?  Yes, I did think for a split second that maybe it was a non-believer who was invited by a believer – in hopes that she would come to know Jesus as her personal Savior.  That certainly could have been the case.  I hope it was – and I hope she did.

It just seems like so much of the world seeps into the church instead of the other way around.  It’s difficult to have to live IN this world and not be OF it.  Things slip out – oh I totally understand.  When they do, God’s Holy Spirit checks us – we repent and we go from there and do our best to keep it from happening again.  God is quick to forgive our transgressions – even when we take His most Holy Name in vain.

It’s just scary to think that the OMG has found its way into the church – and when it’s said there is no shame – no remorse – no regret.  Just because the world accepts it, doesn’t mean that God’s people should accept it.

I try to say OH MY WOW…  I get very strange looks when I say OH MY WOW…  but oh well.  I sorta kinda hope it catches on inside the church doors… because people of GOD don’t need to be saying OMG – we can say LOL all day long – but adopt the OMW.  Seriously – we need to be separate from the world – give it a try – you might like being different.  OH MY WOW!!!  🙂

MARK 8:27 ON 8/27

TL MARK 8 27 ON 8 27

Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”  – Mark 8:27

JESUS, THE I AM

Jesus decided to talk with the disciples seriously about His death on the cross in a place where they would be alone and not be disturbed.  Out of the blue, He asks the question, “Who do others say I am?”  Was He all that concerned with His reputation?  I don’t think so, because He quickly moves to a more pointed question:  “Who do YOU say I am?”  He wanted to know that His followers were going to stay with Him and share His gospel even after He was gone.

We know that the locals could not wrap their mind around the fact that Jesus was God’s Son.  After all, they knew Him as little Jesus, born to Mary and Joseph.  Other’s thought he was a great prophet, but there were many of them around.

Finally, Peter answered Him and declared that He is the Christ, Son of the living God.

I can’t make you put Christ in first place.  You can’t make me put Christ in last place.   The question is before you and me every day…  Who do you say that I am?  It’s good that the question is recorded in the Bible.  We need to answer it for ourselves.  Nobody else can answer it for you.

The decision you make regarding Christ Jesus is the most important one you will ever make.  I’m not being dramatic – I’m being honest.  Mark reminds us that the evidence is in, and each of us must choose to just be amazed and awed by His miracles, or make Christ the center of our lives.  He is the Messiah, Son of God, Savior of all mankind.

I’ll leave you with this thought…  if we underestimate Who Christ Jesus is in our lives, it takes the meaning and the power out of His life and His ministry on earth.  More importantly, it impoverishes the infinite preciousness of His death on the cross at Mount Calvary.

Ponder that today and decide Who you say Christ Jesus is.  🙂

REVELATION 4:11 ON 4/11

REVELATION 4 11 ON 4 11

You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.  – Revelation 4:11

Today let’s celebrate our religious freedom and sing WORTHY IS OUR LORD AND GOD, TO RECEIVE GLORY AND HONOR AND POWER!

1-16 FREEDOM TO PRAISE HIM

There is so much symbolism in the book of Revelation, I don’t pretend to understand all of it.  This is one of the few passages that seem to be fairly straight forward and easily understood.  Sometimes we get so busy making a living – or let’s face it – just living, that we overlook the need to praise God.

I know many folks put on a praise and worship CD in their car for the drive to work.  That’s a good idea – and I used to do the same thing.  This is a post to give us just one more opportunity to look up and thank God for all His blessings to us – His benefits.

Let God’s promises shine on your problems.  – Corrie Ten Boom

No matter who runs for the office of president in 2016, Jesus Christ will be LORD.  He is our Savior, our provider, our sword and shield in life.  He died for our sins and was raised by God the Father.  He sits at the right hand of God and the Holy Spirit of God lives in our hearts.

Yes – He is WORTHY of praise!

I’m going to find the most high place I can and stand at the tippy top of it.  Then I’m going to raise my hands to the sky and praise the Lord.  I may even sing.  God won’t howl like some people do – it’s a beautiful sound to Him.

The value of consistent prayer is not that He will hear us, but that we will hear Him.  – William McGill

Since I live in Kansas, I’m not sure how HIGH the place will be – LOL…  I mean, let’s face it, it’s not like Colorado where there are mountains!  Maybe I’ll drive to Coronado Heights today.  There’s just something about being outdoors on a mountain (or even a hill) – singing praises to God.  He inclines His ear to us when we make that extra effort I believe.  He hears us anyway, but it’s just more special somehow.  🙂

HAPPY EASTER

TL EASTER SUNDAY

Our faith is what connects our weakness to God’s power.  – Wanda McDaniel

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for sending Jesus as a baby into our world with a mission to save our sins at Calvary.  Thank You for raising Him from the dead and for Your precious Holy Spirit.  Thank You for loving us so much!

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And with great power gave the apostles their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.  – Acts 4:33

How many colors can you fathom?  There are not enough colors on the palette to describe the joy in every Christian’s heart and soul today!  God raised Jesus from the dead and HE IS ALIVE!!!  The colors available to us are not vivid enough to paint the joy we feel today!

Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there.   – Clarence W. Hall

God did not leave us in Saturday – after death and despair.  He raised Christ from the dead and now He sits at the right hand of God in heaven.

And…  when God raised Christ from the grave, He did not leave man alone either, but gave us His Holy Spirit to help us.  That is love.  So as you paint Easter eggs, remember to use the most bright and vivid colors you can find because we are celebrating today!

The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances.   – Robert Flatt

Throughout my life I’ve heard the phrase “I know that I know that I know that I KNOW my Savior is alive!”  It means that the faith you have remains unshaken and you continue to fully trust in God through Christ Jesus no matter what.

The joyful news that He is risen does not change the contemporary world.  Still before us lie work, discipline, sacrifice.  But the fact of Easter gives us the spiritual power to do the work, accept the discipline, and make the sacrifice.   – Henry Knox Sherrill

We know that regardless of outward appearances, God has a plan and He knows what He’s doing.  Keep praying and reading His Word.  Trust Him for the answers you need in your life.

Let the resurrection joy lift us from loneliness and weakness and despair to strength and beauty and happiness.   – Floyd W. Tomkins

As you color Easter eggs, think about all the beautiful colors that represent how thankful you are for the resurrection of Christ – and that He is ALIVE!!!  Happy Easter!!!  🙂
