FALL IN LOVE WITH JESUS

The Light of Life… I like the sound of that!  Most of us take light for granted, don’t we?  We just flip a switch and Voila‘!  Instant light!  You know, light not only aids us in seeing what we’re trying to do, but it provides warmth too.  October in Kansas means that we won’t turn down a little warmth with our light, that’s for sure!  Our Lord is not only the light on our path, but He is also the wrap we wear on our shoulders as we walk.  He keeps us safe and warm!

May the blessing of Light be on you, light without and light within… ~Irish blessing

Light and warmth are welcoming to us.  You might even say we’re drawn to them.  You know, the other night I was walking up my driveway toward the front door and caught a glimpse of my green banker’s lamp glowing through the office window.  The green shade made the light particularly soft and more alluring.  I thought, “If I didn’t live here, I’d want to visit because this looks like a house where friendly people live!”   I was drawn to the soft green light!

When I think of this Scripture, a song comes to mind that I heard Aretha Franklin sing:

Walk in the LIGHT… beautiful LIGHT.  We’re goin’ the distance!  Jesus, the LIGHT of the world, will guide us through and provide warmth when our hearts are tempted to grow cold.  It’s a cold and harsh world we live in, but we are called to carry HIS light and warmth to others.

Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space.  It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe.  It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.  ~Michael Strassfeld

What a wonderful analogy to describe Christ as the Light of the world!  He gave His all for us; became sin in our place even though He lived a sinless life.  Praise His name for He is worthy!

When our hearts are heavy and our bank accounts are anorexic, we find joy, peace, love, strength, courage, grace, mercy, and hope in the Light of the world, Jesus Christ, our personal Savior.  He loves us like no other.  Even if the world turns its collective back on you, He never will!

He never changes.  His laws are the same and His love is everlasting.  Lean on Him for answers to life’s toughest questions.  He is LIGHT and WARMTH.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (23)

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.  – Proverbs 21:30

God has impressed on me to ask everyone to pray for the President elect and pray for America.  I know most of us have been doing that for a very long time, but when God gives me a job to do…  I do it.

prayGod does not care which side of the political fence you sit on – and neither do I.  We need to unite and pray as God’s children – it’s as simple as that.

On January 20th, the President elect will become the President.  He has so much work to do in his first 100 days – I certainly do not envy his position.  Let’s come together and pray for God to give him the courage, strength, humility to lean on Him, and especially wisdom to do the right thing for Americans everywhere!

Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?  – 2 Chronicles 1:1

So that they may offer sacrifices pleasing to the God of heaven and pray for the well-being of the king and his sons.  – Ezra 6:10

For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good.  But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason.  They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.  – Romans 13:4

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile.  Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.  – Jeremiah 29:7

In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.  – Proverbs 21:1

Our Heavenly Father,

We humbly bow before You to ask Your blessings on our President elect, Donald Trump.  We pray that you would endow him with Your wisdom and knowledge as he makes decisions that will affect Americans everywhere.  May he execute justice for everyone equally.  We pray that You would build a hedge and surround him with angels at all times.  Keep him healthy and safe please.  Help him to stay focused and energized from above.  May he stay encouraged and positive about the direction America heads from now on.  Please help him to pursue peace and prosperity for Americans as he has promised to do.  Above all, we pray for Your perfect will to be done in our country, Lord.  May we be a blessing to You every day as we are showered with blessings every day.

We ask all of this in the precious name of Christ Jesus our Lord,

Amen.

During this administration, it’s my hope and prayer that our country will turn back to God and understand that it’s HE who will make America truly great.  May He guide and direct our new President and keep him as only He can.  🙂

COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (30)On Memorial Day I looked in the mirror and noticed a lot more gray hairs than ever before.  So many thoughts ran through my mind, including the cost of a professional highlight or color job.  My hair has always had natural highlights and lowlights – the problem is that now those highlights are gray – and they’re starting to wash me out!

I’ve noticed some posts on facebook lately advertising the newest summer hair colors and styles – one of the popular colors is called COFFEE BLONDE.  Hmm…  I thought…  coffee!  It peaked my interest and I started searching the internet.  I found several articles and recipes for natural and chemical-free hair staining.  It’s like a natural henna – and I like the idea of no chemicals damaging my baby fine hair.HAIR STAINIt will probably last until my next shampoo – but the good news is, I’m not going to lose hair like I do when I use the permanent hair color from the box.  There’s no peroxide and no real danger involved.  The amount of instant coffee granules, brewed coffee and conditioner is so inexpensive.  I don’t know about you, but I never use my shampoo and conditioner at the same rate – I have tons of leftover conditioner!  It’s really a win/win.  I can afford to do this just before I wash my hair – not a big deal.

There’s only one side effect (if you can call it that)…  my hair smells like COFFEE.  LOL!!!

It’s just one more frugal thing to try just for fun.  If you want  a dramatic red/burgundy, you can use beet juice.  A cinnamon tea also leaves a bit of brownish/red tint (and the scent would be good too).  Of course for years blondes used mayonnaise or lemon juice in addition to their regular shampoo and conditioner to make their hair shine.

If you are daring and want a more dramatic change, how about sugar-free KOOL-AID???  Yeah – and it’s pretty simple.  The results will show up more on dry hair than on wet hair – and the lighter your hair is, the more dramatic the color will be.  Here’s what you need:

3-6 packages of SUGAR-FREE KOOL-AID (depending on the length of your hair) in a large glass bowl.  Please make sure it’s sugar-free because you do NOT want sticky hair.

Mix with a little conditioner (about 1/4 cup or so) and some hot water.  Stir until you have a paste-like consistency – don’t add too much water or it will be too runny.

I’d wear gloves because it will definitely stain your skin.  If you do get some on your skin, it can be easily removed – no worries.

If you want all of your hair colored, dunk your head in the bowl and massage paste into scalp and on hair.  Or for streaks, put it only where you want it.

Put long pieces of plastic wrap around your head.  Then put a plastic bag over that and secure with a chip clip or tie in a knot on top.

Sleep in it – yeah, I know – just do it.

The next morning, remove the bag and plastic wrap.  Hop in the shower and rinse your hair.  DO NOT SHAMPOO!  If you shampoo, it will wash all the Kool-Aid out.

There are tons of alternatives to harsh chemicals that can potentially BLIND you if it gets in your eyes!  Nothing that harsh should go on anyone’s scalp – or their hair.  Even henna has ingredients that are too harsh in my opinion.

It’s fun to try new colors and it doesn’t take long to go from drab to dazzling!  What will you do today?  Start June with something different.  🙂

HE WANTS TO HELP

The moments when I am able to just be still and know that God is God are the most precious times I know. I know people are busy and it’s a busy world, but if you can just leave the busy behind and shut yourself off for just a few minutes every day. Be alone with your Creator and let Him speak PEACE over you. What a difference that would make!

I know there are some who don’t believe it. Find out for yourself. Don’t ride on my cloud – get your own. Spend some alone time with God. Pray and read God’s Word. This life is not difficult, but there’s a temptation to “skip” devotion time which is not good.

It’s interesting that God gets no credit for anything good that happens, but then when something bad happens He is suddenly the scapegoat and the one who is automatically blamed. People who have a close personal relationship with God know better than to go there. God does allow some things, granted, but He allows the good all around us every day and it’s taken for granted.

God wants the very best for His precious children. He does not desire that any should perish but that all come to a saving knowledge of Him. He loves and cares for you so much.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  – John 14:27

There’s not enough money in the world to buy the PEACE that God gives. There are not enough medications to mimic the PEACE that God gives.

There are 4 easy steps to live in God’s PEACE:

Pray… ask… receive… bask!

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.  – Exodus 14:14

The LORD will fight for me! BOOM! 🙂
