Let’s review:

You helped the kids have a fantastic Halloween.  You made everyone’s favorite food for Thanksgiving.  You helped your friends and family in a million different ways this year, sometimes at the expense of your own well-being.

It’s time to turn off the cell phone, put your favorite CD in the player, get the rubber ducky out of the bathroom closet, light the candles around the tub, draw a nice warm bath, adding a generous dose of your favorite bath oil and have a personal party!  Today is BATHTUB PARTY DAY!

Don’t feel guilty – you deserve this!  If you’re like me, you don’t always take much “me” time because you’re too busy making sure everyone else is taken care of.  So make arrangements to have someone watch the kids while you focus on relaxing and rejuvenating.

You and the ducky will soon be so much happier and healthier.  There is something about self-care that makes you more effective in caring for others.  This holiday was created and is provided courtesy of

This is cute…  lol.

That Garfield…  he’s a wild one.

If you want to use an essential oil in your bath that you’ve not tried before, make sure you do a little test on your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin like me.  Some oils may cause you to break out in a rash (which would definitely work against the goal of relaxation).  Just put a drop or two on the back of your hand.  If there’s no reaction after a few minutes, go ahead and add about 7 drops to your bath water.

The best scents to relax your senses and sore muscles are lavender and Chamomile.  Did you think it was only good for tea?  No – these essential oils work wonders in your bath.

Are you tired and need something to kick you into high gear?  Just as you would drink a mint tea, the peppermint essential oil will soon tell you to “Get up and get going!”

Most of us take quick showers every day because we lead busy lives.  Today you need to plan a nice long soak with your favorite music, candlelight, essential oil that will either make you relax or get you moving and a snack or whatever else makes you smile!  🙂

If you are looking for a perfect Christmas gift, may I suggest a new devotional book by Lucinda Berry Hill?  Everyone needs a new devotional book to begin the new year!

I see fewer windmills around Kansas as I get older. The new wind turbines are taking over. Sad.

Did you have a good Labor Day weekend? I hope you got the opportunity to do something fun and relaxing. We took a very nice road trip out West on Highway 54. There is not much to see out that way, but if you enjoy the wide open prairie with a bit of serendipity, the trip becomes more of an adventure. I like old windmills and decided to count them so I would not fall asleep in the truck. I only saw two which disappointed me to some extent. On the bright side, the wildflowers growing along the highway and the railroad tracks are beautiful! I especially like the little yellow sunflowers with brown centers.

We decided to stop at Greensburg to see the world’s largest hand-dug well. Yes, it’s their claim to fame. It was dug in 1887, completed in 1888 and was the main source of water for the city until 1932. The well is 32 feet in diameter and 109 feet deep. Having said that, imagine walking down the stairs to get into the cavern of it. Yes – stairs! No elevator – (you’ve been warned).

My husband works out every day at the gym and he was struggling on the stairs a bit. Well, I’d love to say I work out and go for “leg day” at the gym, but I would be grossly misrepresenting myself – um… it would be a lie. To be honest, at one point I thought I was dying, folks! All I had to do was listen to myself breathe to realize – I am out of condition big time! Going down was not so bad, but climbing back up was a real bear!!! I thought I’d have to set up residence at the bottom of that well! Can you imagine filling out a “change of address” card for the U.S. Post Office??? Location: Bottom of world’s largest hand-dug well in Greensburg, Kansas! Oh, Nice!

The good news is that I was able to navigate the stairs! I am still having almost no pain from sciatica and not using my cane! This is just wonderful and I don’t question it and I certainly don’t complain – I just rejoice from the bottom of my heart for this gift!!! Thank You, Lord!!! He’s so good to me!!!
