SEPTEMBER IS BE KIND TO EDITORS AND WRITERS MONTH

SEPTEMBER IS BE KIND TO EDITORS AND WRITERS MONTH

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.  – Abraham Lincoln

Look – we are not perfect (God knows…) and we don’t get it right every time.  We are so very human, but we have the nerve to be vulnerable and stand up to criticism every single time we put the pen to paper – or rather when we finally allow someone to read what we’ve written.  If you think that’s easy to do, think again.

9-1 GIVE WRITERS SOME SLACK

A certain amount of backbone is essential to be a successful editor or writer.  As an editor, you are charged with making the writer’s work sparkle!  Once in a while you encounter a writer who denies they need any extra sparkle from the editor.  :-/  It’s a wonderful blessing to work with an author who is open-minded to suggestions you make.  Editors do their best work when they work with a writer who is flexible about their work.  Developing a mutual respect as you work together is so important.

Whether it is a song, poem or the great American novel, keep in mind that a writer pours everything into what they are trying to convey to the musician or reader.  Cut them some slack and ask yourself if you could do a better job.  Actually, if the answer is yes, maybe you should give it a go.

There are so many wonderful Christian authors out there who work hard to provide the highest quality books available.  They also had some amazing editors who gladly gave their work some extra sparkle.

The neat part about Christian writers and editors is of course, they follow Christ and His principles for living.  That means the books are truly a labor of love and written with much prayer behind them.  I believe that matters, don’t you?

We write to and for God.  He is the source of inspiration and our writing is a way of affirming the inspiration He provides while sharing His loving kindness with others.

If you know a great editor or writer, give them a shout-out today!  I know a little blog does not seem like a big deal, but I still have to put an idea out there to be accepted or rejected – and nobody likes rejection or for their blog to be ignored and unread – it seems to be the ultimate waste of time.  It makes my day to see that fellow bloggers LIKE something I post.  I do a funny little happy dance.  No, I won’t post a video.

So – be kind to us because we’re really doing the best we can.  Thanks – and thanks for reading!  🙂

LUKE 6:22 ON 6/22

TL LUKE 6 22 ON 6 22

Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.  – Luke 6:22

Does it bother you to be excluded from the “popular” group?  Do you think co-workers or others in your class hate you, or at the very least misunderstand you?  Well – me too, but I want to encourage you and let you know that God is blessing you while the world turns its back on you.

When we trust Christ and accept His gospel, it means there is an automatic target painted on our backs.  We have to  keep the eternal perspective in mind and remember that God’s blessings on our lives is forever and the acceptance or rejection of other people – well, it’s temporary and means little or nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Really – sometimes when we are excluded from some activities – it’s nothing that we need to be engaged in to begin with.  God really does protect His children from harm and keeps us safe.  We have to lean more on Christ when we are feeling especially left out.  By the same token, we need to pray that God will provide a safe haven with like-minded friends where we can feel accepted and loved.

Why is church so important?  It’s almost like a support group of sorts, where we are not seen as the world often sees us.  Finding a group of believers where you can feel comfortable and at ease to speak your thoughts and beliefs means so much to Christians.

While we are not to spend all of our time hidden inside the church building with like-minded brothers and sisters, it’s good to have a soft place to land after we’ve done our best to share the good news of Christ with a world that does not even almost understand what we’re talking about.

At times, we will be hated and rejected in this world simply for what we believe.  We profess, preach, teach and believe the full gospel of Christ from beginning to end.  Our Messiah came in the flesh and was the Son of God according to His divine nature, yet the son of man according to His human nature.

He walked the earth doing miracles – doing good.  He suffered, bled and died on a cruel cross as the Lamb of God – the only worthy sacrifice for the sins of every man on earth.  By the power of God He arose from the grave and sits at the right hand of the Heavenly Father.

When Jesus ascended into heaven, He left us a helper known as the Holy Spirit.  God’s Holy Spirit helps us navigate this life and do what God would have us do.

One day God the Father will instruct Jesus to come back to earth to take those who love and trust Him to heaven to live forevermore.

MEET GOD AT THE DOOR

God blesses His children – even when others make fun of us, reject us, and intentionally hurt us because of our faith.  It’s my prayer that you will notice less of the temporary hurt and look beyond to the eternal blessing from your Heavenly Father.  🙂

ROMANS 3:25 ON 3/25

TL ROMANS 3 25 ON 3 25

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.  – Romans 3:25

WORDS WITH CHANGE

Have you ever stopped to consider that God willingly gave His only Son to die on the cross just for you?

Did He do that for angels?  No.  The angels were there, watching and weeping, but the work of redemption on Calvary’s cross was not to save the angels.  They understood the majesty and wisdom and goodness of God toward man.  As God provided the perfect Lamb for unworthy sinners, the angels had a bird’s eye view and watched intently.

Did He do that for Satan and his demons?  No.  They have already rejected God and see the cross only as the point where Jesus bruised the serpent’s head.  Evil sees the cross through its own eyes with its own twisted interpretation.  They do not admit defeat even then and will never declare the powerful truth that Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords.

The one and only reason God sent Jesus to die on the cross was for your salvation.  Now it’s up to you to either accept this precious gift that was purchased with His blood – or reject it.  You were given free will by your Creator to either follow Christ or follow Satan.  There’s no in-between.

Remember, if you’re headed in the wrong direction, God allows U-turns!  – Allison Gappa Bottke

ALL BECAUSE OF GOD’S AMAZING GRACE

1.

Amazing grace O how sweet the sound,
That saved a poor sinner like me!
Though once I was lost, yet now I am found,
Though I was blinded, now I see!

2.

And it’s all because of God’s amazing grace!
Because on Calvary’s Mountain he took my place!
And someday, some glorious morning,
I shall see him face to face,
All because of God’s amazing grace.

3.

Through disappointment through danger, too,
Through labors and sorrows we’ve come!
But God’s grace has guided safely through,
And someday it will take us home!

4.

Then with the ransomed around God’s throne,
We will praise our Redeemer and King!
We will tell how his mercy for sin did atone;
Through countless ages this song we’ll sing;

5.

It was all because of God’s amazing grace!
Because on Calvary’s Mountain he took my place!
And someday, some glorious morning,
I shall see him face to face,
All because of God’s amazing grace.

Cho.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound,
And someday, some glorious morning,
I shall see him face to face,

Tag.   All because of God’s amazing grace!

God’s grace…  it’s pretty amazing, huh???  🙂
