ELECTION DAY IN THE USA – AND JESUS IS STILL LORD

The LORD was moved by prayer for the land.  – 2 Samuel 24:25

Most of my friends say they will be glad when this election is finally OVER.  I took advantage of early voting and voted by mail.  I was done with the campaign after I voted – after all, I’d done everything I could possibly do, right?

Was there another person I could persuade to see things my way?  Well, I didn’t think there was, but God apparently wanted me to meet up with some folks who were still wavering on the fence.  One was ready to forfeit her right to vote this time around.  We had a good conversation – she told me how she felt about both candidates and I asked a few simple questions.  I think I helped her see how not voting is not helping matters.america-needs-you-lord

Voting is probably the most personal of all things we do in life.  Just as some people choose to keep their faith to themselves and practice in private – some people are that way about their political views.  I tend to clam up if I’m in mixed company and the subject of politics comes up – but I can be the big mouth in a group if I’m with like-minded people.

Women should remember that it’s important to exercise their RIGHT to vote because that right was not always there!

If you’re a woman making the decision NOT to vote, regardless of your party or candidate, remember that just a short 96 years ago some very brave and incredibly strong women won a long hard-fought battle to grant you the ability to do so.  To sit at home, complaining about your country and the path it’s going down and NOT exercising your right to vote, is a slap in the face to those women and women everywhere.  – Bridget Montgomery

11-7-god-understands-donkeys-and-elephantsFor me it’s like this:  there will be no politics in Heaven.  Political rallies and campaigns will not take place beyond the pearly gates.  If you ever needed an incentive for going to Heaven…  there it is.  I’m joking – there are better incentives than that!

I have one observation to inject here – for what it’s worth.  It’s well-known that blue is the democratic color and red is the republican color.  What do you get when you mix those two colors?  PURPLE!!!  What does purple represent?  It represents ROYALTY.  Christ Jesus is KING and how wonderful if America was not red or blue, but PURPLE!!!  Let’s bow down to King Jesus regardless of whether blue or red is at the helm of this country.

God loves everyone regardless of political affiliation.  He loves liberals, conservatives, and everyone in-between.  That’s the truth that will help our country to heal after this election.  Somebody is going to lose this thing.  It’s important that we don’t let the hurt destroy our souls in the process.  The differences between liberals and conservatives are clear, but we must remember that God doesn’t see our political affiliation and beliefs…  God sees a soul that will either turn to Him for help or will not.god-holds-the-worldWhen the election is over…  will you trust GOD to hold your world together?  The ultra rich people running for President of the United States are not able to save us, you know.  They may have programs and plans that you feel will benefit our country, but they can’t save you.  Only God, through His only Son, Christ Jesus can save you now and for eternity.

At this point, we don’t know who our President will be…  but we know without a doubt that God knows who it will be…  and that is comforting!  He knows how this will go down and what lies ahead…  because He’s already there – in the future!

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.  – Hebrews 11:8

Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords!  You know the truth.  What will you do about it?  You have a choice to accept God’s love and the sacrifice of Christ, or reject it.  The proverbial ball is in your court.  Have a blessed day.  🙂

I’m not a Democrat, however I do wish Bill & Hillary Clinton a happy wedding anniversary!  They have enjoyed wedded bliss for 40 years today!  Bill & Hill tied the knot in Fayetteville, Arkansas on October 11, 1975.  This blogger was 14 years old and in Jr. High School back then.

Let’s have a little good-natured fun, shall we???  Bwahahaha…

Since they are so poor now (not only broke, but in debt since they left the White House), I’m not sure how they will celebrate…  but I have an old Coleman pup tent they are welcome to borrow.  They have to bring their own sleeping bags, blankets and lanterns A campout would be fun – but I do recommend taking a few blankets because it’s a little nippy at night.

I feel sorry for folks who graduate from Yale and become successful lawyers – then become career politicians…  don’t you?  It takes a special breed to stay in politics as long as these two have.  I can’t imagine having every little thing in my life and especially my marriage put under a giant microscope for God and everyone to see.  I hope it’s been worth it for them.  That sure is not the life I would wish for myself – not for any amount of money.  It’s amazing that they have stayed married – jus’ sayin’…  so many lies and so much deceit.  Do they know truth if it bites them?

Here’s a link of traditional and modern wedding gifts through the years:

http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0770817.html

None of these things seem quite right for this special couple.  What is the right gift for Bill & Hill…  for their 40th wedding anniversary???  Wow – what should we get them?  Let’s see…  well – there are a few things on Amazon that look like good choices.  How about pillow cases – one says Mr. Always Right and the other one says Mrs. Always Right – ???

There’s a T-shirt for Bill that says, “I don’t need GOOGLE my wife knows everything.”

Or this T-shirt:

Oh wait…  that’s the T-shirt I’m giving my husband next year.  LOL!  I’m kidding – I’m kidding.

Ah – I see a ball cap that says, “After 50 years she still puts up with me.”

Yes, this is their 40th wedding anniversary…  but I’m pretty sure it feels like 50.  :-/  I’m kidding…

I do wish Bill & Hillary a lovely 40th wedding anniversary.  I hope they get to spend it with friends and family.

I do very seriously pray for this country and for future leadership.  I pray everyone wakes up to the truth – God’s truth – very soon.  I hope one way or the other, they learn that what they do matters and they are not above the law.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

It’s day one of the rest of my life. It’s day one of the best of my life. I’m marching on to the beat of a brand new drum ya here I come the future has begun its day one.  – Mathew West

FORTUNE COOKIE
My Fortune Cookie

What does this fortune mean?  Keep praying, America!  Today we walk toward the future as a nation…  let’s do it with our heads bowed, humbly asking God to intervene.

As government expands, liberty contracts. – Ronald Reagan

While we continue to “shop” for the GOP nominee, let’s take notes along the way and get on our knees and pray!  I will say one thing for each candidate on the debate stage:  they are all extremely strong!  To be honest, if someone slammed my looks I think I’d crawl in a hole and pull the hole in after me.  I admire Carly Fiorina so much for how she turned that rude comment – the quote by Donald Trump in “Rolling Stone” magazine – into a huge positive for American women everywhere!

LOOK AT THAT FACE…  and that RED DRESS…  power color…  you GO, girl!!!

Fiorina’s knowledge of US defense and the specifics she shared is impressive.  She said she would assure Israel that we are on their side.  I smiled big at that point.  I like what she had to say about the economy as well.  Also I appreciated that she spoke out for the defunding of Planned Parenthood.  It’s amazing when she is given the opportunity to speak how much we learn about her!

I believe Dr. Carson was less than impressive, but I did not like the type of questions CNN asked – pitting one candidate against another.  We know they are running against each other, but to purposefully pit one against another is just not cool.  It’s my belief that this sort of premeditated snarky question is not one that Dr. Carson is comfortable answering!  I would not want to answer snarky questions either.  It’s my suspicion that this is part of the reason he did not shine as he may have otherwise.

I’d rather see a debate that is really about issues instead of hearing questions like, so-and so has said such and such about you – how would you respond to that?  The way the questions were worded instantly put the respondent on the defensive.  The more time they spend defending themselves against each other, the less time they have to talk about the stuff that REALLY matters.

Call me prejudiced, but I appreciated the FOX debate so much more because the questions were not asked in a way that directly pitted one against another.  The questions had to do with policy instead of personality – and I appreciated that.

It’s not going to be an easy choice to make – so once again I encourage you to pray about this important decision.  Of course, most of us won’t get to vote until the race is narrowed down, so many folks are not paying close attention like I am.  I just happen to enjoy politics.  I know – I’m weird.  LOL!!!  :-/

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (23)

The very fact that we humans have a sense of humor indicates that God does, too, for we are made in His image.   You can’t look at penguins, platypuses, and puppies without thinking that God has a sense of humor!  Jesus, as the Son of God, shares the Father’s attributes, including a sense of humor.

As the Son of Man, Jesus shares in the full human experience. We cannot imagine life without laughter; even those in dire circumstances have known seasons of joy. Everyone laughs and appreciates good humor. To say that Jesus never expressed joy through laughter is akin to denying His full humanity.

Yes, I watched the Republican debate and there were certainly some funny moments, but when it’s all said and done I have to say…

NO MATTER WHO IS PRESIDENT, JESUS IS KING!

We have to learn to laugh, and for me this video did the trick!  I really dig that little Donald Trump, don’t you?  Love the rug!  The wee little Rand Paul is too cute as well.

You know, there was a time not so long ago when the ideologies of Democrats and Republicans were minimal.  They seem to be polar opposites these days.  That’s why I believe so strongly that conservative Christians need to wake up and pay attention to what’s going on.

For years I’ve heard friends and family say there’s nothing we can do about it, so why pay attention?  Well – maybe a few years ago we could have taken that attitude, but now…  I don’t know.  It seems to me we need to follow current events closer now.  And if you wonder what you can do…  as a voter – you can pray before the election – then vote your conscience.

The “real” debate (with the so-called grown-ups) was entertaining at times, but I just had to share the kid’s version because it’s just so darn cute!

Life gets heavy and weighs us down.  When we can find a reason to smile and laugh, why not share it?  I don’t believe God expects us to be less than joyful because we know that He has always seen us through – and will continue to lead us going forward.  We have nothing to fear because He is in control.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY (12)

untitled (53)

I admit it – I am at times an over-enthusiastic Conservative Republican Christian.  I believe government should be small and people and their ideas are the solutions to problems – not necessarily throwing money at them.  I believe prayer changes things – and God can move people to do the right thing – to help those around, thus, solving problems.

The lesson I need to learn is how not to get sucked into controversial discussions that will do nothing but annoy everyone.  I have to be a Christian first – follow Christ – and then be a Conservative Republican.  My relationship with my Lord has to come first and I need to be more kind to everyone, whether they agree with me or not.  Is it easy?  NO – but with Christ all things are possible.

I CAN LET IT GO

This is a jumping off point.  God is love and Christ is redemption.  Hope is alive and well.  How can I be kind today?  Here are just a few ideas:

  1. I can tell a parent they are doing a great job.
  2. I can drag my neighbor’s trash bin to the curb along with my own.
  3. I can write a note to someone I have not seen in a long time.
  4. I can help someone at the grocery store if I see they are short of money.
  5. I can place a flower on someone’s windshield with a note that says, “Have a Nice Day”.
  6. I can let someone have a parking space they are vying for.
  7. I can show my appreciation to someone by telling their boss they are doing a great job.
  8. I can make some extra soup to take to a sick friend.
  9. I can tell a veteran I appreciate their service for America.
  10. I can tell a stranger that Jesus loves them and that I will pray for them.

I get caught up in political issues when really I need to get caught up in being kind to everyone regardless of political affiliation.  We are people before we are political.  The fact is, we live in the greatest country in the world, and yes I care about the direction we’re going, but I need to be more kind and less critical.  :-/
