The theme of the Christian life is based on forgiveness.  Once you are at peace with all around you, it’s time to enjoy life and have some fun.  Today is the day to dress up like a cow and go to Chick-fil-A for a free sandwich.  It’s amazing how much more fun life can be once the air is cleared.

To harbor a grudge against someone is to allow them to live rent-free in your mind. When people hurt us or make us angry, we often hold on to those feelings for a long time. Have you ever asked yourself why you can’t let something go when you need to? I wonder if God is trying to help us get tougher and maybe wiser at the same time.

To you who are ready for the truth, I say this: Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer for that person. If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. If someone grabs your shirt, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously. Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them! If you only love the lovable, do you expect a pat on the back? Run-of-the-mill sinners do that. If you only help those who help you, do you expect a medal? Garden-variety sinners do that. If you only give for what you hope to get out of it, do you think that’s charity? The stingiest of pawnbrokers does that. I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You’ll never—I promise—regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we’re at our worst. Our Father is kind; you be kind. – Luke 6:27-36

It takes a degree of maturity to obey and pray for those who hate you. Once you begin to pray for someone, you can never hate them again. Hate turns to pity and you are then able to love that person with genuine compassion that comes from God.  Eventually you might even be able to invite them to go to Chick-fil-A with you for COW APPRECIATION DAY.

It’s a challenge, but we have to forgive because we have been forgiven by our Lord. ❤

There are two words in today’s society that set my teeth on edge. The first one is “change”. Well, this is not a political blog so I’ll just leave that one alone. I have my opinions on the subject but I’ll hold my tongue. The second word that makes me crazy is “tolerance”. True tolerance would work for everyone. The tolerance that I’m seeing played out equals snuffing out traditional values in favor of something much less traditional. If tolerance really worked the way it should, there would be more for Christianity and core values and a belief system that is based on Biblical principles. Tolerance is a crock unless it cuts both ways.

So – How can we as Christians send out Christmas cards that say “Peace on Earth” when there is a “War on Christmas” in our country? If you choose to ignore the sweeping trend to bash Christianity, you are not facing the problem but hiding from it. The answer is in God’s Holy Word, The Bible. We can hope and pray for peace on earth because we serve a mighty God and He holds the answer to every question. The battle – ultimately, the war – is His. We need to stay awake, alert, and know what’s going on. Don’t sleep through it – but there’s no reason to get your sword out either. Don’t fight God’s battle for Him. He’s got this. Know who you are in the Lord – be a good witness to those around you.

They will know we are Christians by our LOVE. Love has turned more hearts around than war ever has. Let God work on those you are witnessing to through your actions of love. The ones who are waging this war just do not know Christ, therefore they do not understand Christmas. Ignorance is not a reason to hate anyone, but a reason to show compassion and pity. Remember, a soft answer turns away wrath. God is still in control. The facts about Christmas will never change – Christ is still the reason for Christmas, no matter how much the secular progressive movement squawks around about it.

It’s just my job to LOVE everyone. The war will continue to worsen I imagine. In the meantime, I pray you find peace – from Christ, not the kind of peace the world offers. Seek Him while He may be found. The first time, He came as an innocent little baby. Our coming Lord and Savior will come back as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will not be an innocent little baby when He returns for His own.

Peace be with you and Merry Christmas!
