A SUMMER OF PSALMS

I challenge you to name one thing in this world that never changes.  Time’s up!  Did you think of anything?  No, you didn’t – neither did I.  Everything changes…  EVERYTHING!  The foal in the photograph above is now a beautiful full-grown mare.  Living beings are born, they thrive and do what God intended, then they die and go back to God.  It’s the way God planned it.  The Bible tells us that our time is in HIS hand.  So you see, we don’t need to worry because God has us in His hand all the time.

God never changes.  His laws don’t change.  His justice doesn’t change.  His unending love never changes.  His peace is real.  The joy and happiness He bestows on our lives can only be described as dependable.  It’s honest and there’s no hidden agenda.  If He puts a rug on the floor in front of me, then asks me to stand on it, I know without a doubt He will not pull it out from under me, causing me to fall.  Can you say that about any person on this earth?  Get real – of course, you can’t!

This body of mine has changed from the time I was in my twenties.  Anyone who is honest will say a great big AMEN to that!  These chan.ges are a huge challenge – but God’s got me, so I’ve got this!

Changes are inevitable in this life, but it gets dangerous when we as people try to “overrule” God.  Do we rely on our wisdom more than we seek God’s laws?  We simply cannot say that some behaviors are not sinful when God has already said they are.

When pastors are motivational speakers instead of providing instruction and direction according to God’s Word, it’s not a favor to us poor sinners – any of us.  We all need to hear and know God’s truth – all of it.  I don’t hate anyone and care for everyone’s eternal soul.  For Pete’s sake, I’m not perfect and I don’t judge anyone.  God offers redemption for ALL through His Son’s death on Calvary’s cross.  He offers forgiveness for sin – any sin – take your pick.  They’re all alike in God’s eyes.

Change.  God causes the seasons to change.  He helps sinners to change.  We find Christ, learn what He wants for us, and turn from whatever is not pleasing in His sight.  He patiently helps us to live a life that is pleasing to Him.  Our lives can be so rich and full of Christ when He’s in the center of it.  🙂

PRAYERS & WISHES FOR THANKSGIVING

tl-thanksgiving-2016-11-12-thru-11-24Did you know that if we will listen, God will give us encouragement no matter where we are?  Yep, it’s true!  When we’re open to His leading and listen carefully, He will speak to us!

Nothing beats taking all morning to have coffee with my Bible and a great devotional book.  Not everyone can take the time in the morning – I get that.  I used to work too, ya know.  I wasn’t born retired.  I was born TIRED – and hungry…  but I digress.

Even on days when you’re running late and nothing seems to be going right, you can be inspired.  You don’t believe me, do you?  It’s true.  If you have a radio in your car and have access to a Christian radio station…  that’s all you need!

Thank you, Lucinda, for this poem:

music-from-my-car

For ten years I worked across town from where I lived.  Some days it was not easy to face the work day, but the great people at K-LOVE made my commute to work much better.  For that I am so thankful.

God never lets us go, and it’s up to us to snag every opportunity we can to allow Him to speak to us.  I can’t think of a better way for Him to communicate with me than through music.  🙂

Take a moment to say a prayer of thanks today for Christian radio:a-prayer-poem-for-thanksgivingI wish you enough travel time with your Christian radio station to get the inspiration you need to receive to have a great day.  I wish for your favorite song to play and speak a message to your heart that you need to hear today.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (15)Remember when you were a kid and your mom or dad would say, “This world has gotten so out of control, we are surely in the last days!” – ???  I heard that a lot as a kid and recall thinking, “You’ve said that for years…  Christ has not returned yet.”

Well, now I’m the adult and I’m saying, “This world has gotten so out of control, we are surely in the last days!”  LOL!  I imagine some reading this are saying, “You’ve said that for years…  Christ has not returned yet.”

As I keep my eyes on the eastern skies, I catch a glimpse of steeples…  pointing toward heaven, reminding all who take time to look that God still cares about us from His throne in Heaven.  He is there, but He’s also here amongst us in the form of His precious Holy Spirit.

Once in a while we just need to be reminded that the steeples are not to be worshipped, but they point towards Heaven, where God is, and His Son Jesus sits at His right hand.  When God gives the word, Jesus will return and this time He won’t come as an innocent little baby, but as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

You know I love steeples and you know why.  I’ve written several poems in which they’ve spoken.  Lucinda Berry Hill has written about them.  For those of us keeping our lamps trimmed and our eyes open, they remind us to keep looking up!

We see Steeples in all seasons…  Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.  I love them all…  the steeples for all seasons.  ❤GOD SEES EVERY HEART

No matter what the season, Steeples…  some with crosses, some plain – stand tall and straight.  It may seem strange that a steeple could “speak”.  Well, they don’t – but God’s still small voice can definitely speak as I’m looking at a steeple – and thinking.  It results in a poem usually, but sometimes it’s a Bible verse or other type of writing.  HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE STEEPLEHAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY FROM THE STEEPLEHAPPY ST. The next time you see a steeple, say a prayer and be still.  You may be surprised at what happens!  🙂

NATIONAL POETRY AT WORK DAY

TL 1-13 NATIONAL POETRY AT WORK DAY

1-13 POETRY AT WORK

Today we celebrate NATIONAL POETRY AT WORK DAY!

The Cross can meet all your needs. Trust and believe.   – Psalms 103:1-6

It’s funny, when I first heard the name of this special day, my thought was, “Poetry at a job?”  Then I ran it past Lucinda and she said, “Yes, poetry is at work.”  Then it clicked…  yes, the words God gives us – they really DO work!

This is not a blog post intended to brag on us, but its purpose is to brag on God.  His faithfulness, His divine inspiration and His unending love, grace and mercy to us!  We praise Him because He gives us the right words to write at just the right time.

God enters by a private door into each individual.  – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Someone once asked what it was like to be Sanctified and the answer was, “It’s better felt than telt.”  In other words, you just can’t describe it, but you know without a doubt that God’s Holy Spirit is there with you throughout your life – no matter what.  It’s this Spirit that leads us to write – tells us when to write and what to write.

God alone knows what words a soul needs to read – and when they need to read them.  I can’t speak for Lucinda, but there are moments when I wonder why I’m writing what I’m writing and why I’m writing those words at that particular time – but I just have to trust that God knows best – and yes, I know He does!

It’s my prayer that the poetry Lucinda and I write touches lives and encourages individuals in their spiritual journey with Christ.   We pray His richest blessings on each of you.

Most of you know about Lucinda’s first devotional book of poetry, “Coffee with Jesus”.  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Coffee-with-Jesus/355060321207311

She wrote another book and it became available just before Christmas.  This one has accompanying Scriptures and heart-felt prayers that I wrote.  ❤  I am so honored to be a part of this book, and I hope you will order your copy today.  It’s called “A Second Cup with Jesus”.    http://www.lucindaspoetry.webs.com/

NATIONAL CLEAN OFF YOUR DESK DAY

TL 1-12 NATIONAL CLEAN OFF YOUR DESK DAY

1-12 MY CLEAN MESS

Man becomes his most creative during war.  Look at the amount of weaponry that was made in four short years of World War II…  But that’s kind of a sad statement on mankind.  – Clint Eastwood

Here’s the question:  How do you feel when you have a messy desk?

I asked this question in my group, A SECOND HELPING OF WELLNESS…  WITH A DASH OF HUMOR & A PINCH OF FAITH

https://www.facebook.com/groups/asecondhelpingofwellness

The answers were varied and interesting.  There are clearly some folks who need a clean, organized environment around them to ignite their creativity.  They do one thing at a time and toss it aside and move on.  For those people, I’m here to tell you that it is NATIONAL CLEAN OFF YOUR DESK DAY.

As for the rest of us…  I give you permission (and I give myself permission) to completely ignore this day and be just as messy as you need to be for your personal creative process!  We think differently than other people.  Our mess is our source of inspiration!

Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia.  – E.L. Doctorow

I can only speak for myself, but when I ‘m working on one project, I always have about fifteen others, all in various stages of completion.  I feel perfectly comfortable with several unfinished projects – and the really strange thing is, I can be working on project #7 and something from project #9 inspires something in me for project #7.

I make truly organized people crazy – absolutely crazy!

Remember the old saying OPPOSITES ATTRACT???  When I met my husband nearly 30 years ago, he was the most organized man I’d ever met.  I mean scary organized…  now, he not only puts canned goods in the pantry – every type of food has to be put together.  I get that – that makes sense – now it gets scary.  All of the labels have to be turned forward – I mean sometimes I put a can in there and the label with the name of the item may or may not be facing toward me.  I never really stopped to think about it before I met him!

He tells people I’ve relaxed his OCD behavior.  I take that as a compliment – LOL!

Please don’t try ANY of these methods for cleaning off your desk!

It’s not that I’m really messy – I just have a lot going on.  There is a pile for every project and I know what I’m doing.  It’s my system and nobody (not even my husband) messes with my messy system!

I’m inspired by my piles of stuff.  If a desk is too clean, my brain goes blank!  Yikes!  :-/

I WILL MISS YOU…

TL A TRIBUTE

THE WORDS OF MAYA

Where to begin? Maya Angelou was a great inspiration for the meek and the mighty! Entire nations listened to her words of wisdom and were moved to action by them. Her impressive list of accolades includes her popular book entitled, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”, which brought about some controversy and was banned from some school libraries across America. Maya contended that the ones banning the book had not even taken the time to read it.

Her fabulous career began when she cut her first album in 1957, “Calypso Lady”. It’s reported that Billie Holiday told her that she would be famous, but not for singing. How right she was!

Between the fiction, non-fiction and published verse, she had more than 30 best-selling titles!

I will miss reading her writings, always thought-provoking, they encouraged me to grow. I believe that’s what good writing does, it makes a person think, take it to their own heart and life, and act on it. It makes us grow as a person and in the way we interact with those around us.

Rest in Peace, Maya Angelou. ❤
