A SUMMER OF PSALMS

This portion of Scripture came to mind a few years ago when my husband and I were catching a very early flight out of Wichita.  We aren’t frequent flyers, so we’re not acquainted with all the new rules and procedures that are in place since 9/11.  I understand the need for it, but it doesn’t make me want to fly on a regular basis by any means.

For people who know the Lord, this portion of Scripture brings comfort and assurance.  I could see where some could be a little freaked out by it – but regardless of which group you’re in, you must admit…  God knows where you are – all the time.  You can’t run from Him and you certainly can’t hide from Him.

I’m thankful for God’s guidance and His strength and support, particularly as I’m getting older and my strength is not what it used to be.  I love the Lord because His way of doing things is so much more creative than any ideas I come up with…  every time!   His way is always best and He never disappoints me!

Have you ever been trying to figure out how to resolve an issue and as you pray about it, God just reveals the perfect answer to you?  I have!  It’s a moment when you want to sing praises to Him while doing a little happy dance!  I’m so glad His hand guides me – I welcome that guidance throughout my life.  I need His wisdom, strength, and support on a daily basis!

This is so beautiful – I have to share it with you!  Speaking of doing a little happy dance:

I wish there was a way for me to move this from YouTube up to my big screen TV so I could join them and do this praise workout!  I used to find Christian workout videos here in America – but I haven’t seen any for a long time.  😦

His strength will support us!  I think there are times we doubt that, particularly when we have weak days.  So many conditions can sap us of energy, can’t they?  Regardless of how we feel, we need to know by faith that our weakness is not the end of the story.  With humility, we cry out to God, and His strength takes over…  and aren’t we thankful for it?

Lucinda Berry Hill has written a perfect poem for this Psalm:

I’m reminded of an old song by Steven Curtis Chapman.  His Strength is Perfect.  🙂

What can Christ do through you?  I don’t know, but don’t doubt that His strength is perfect when your strength is gone.  He’s amazing in our lives!  🙂

PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDThe birthday of Christ will arrive whether we are happy or sad, rich or poor, loving others or embracing hatred toward those who are not like us.  Our Savior will offer His love, mercy, grace and peace to our hearts whether we are willing to accept them or not.  He never changes – His mercies are new every morning.  We are offered a new day with no mistakes in it.  Will we accept this gift at Christmas?  I will accept it with open arms and pray that you will too.

As we accept these wondrous presents in addition to the presence of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives, may we endeavor to share all of it with others.  There is another gift we have been given and need to be eager to share – it’s the gift of laughter!

Yes it’s a scary world we live in.  This is the first time in history I’ve heard the term terrorism thrown around as readily as the word smile.  We’re in the last days and we need to hold on to God’s strong, unfailing hand.  What can you do to make a co-worker smile and laugh today?

Humor can help people de-stress, but it can often be offensive.  Approximately 70% of those polled reported that workplace jokes they’d heard centered around making fun of co-workers based on factors like age, sexual orientation and even weight.

YOUR LITTLE SANTA BABY

Is there any hope for good clean humor in the workplace, or are we all doomed to have long faces and live in fear of offending a co-worker?  Well…  let’s see what we can come up with.

This is a birthday cake for vegans. LOL!!!  I know some vegans who would think that was really funny!
I thought this was cute. It's for a birthday, but how cute would it be to have a SANTA that looks like a co-worker setting in their chair?
I thought this was cute. It’s for a birthday, but how cute would it be to have a SANTA that looks like a co-worker setting in their chair?

This could only be offensive if you made the middle too big – LOL!!!  Of course, if it’s a Santa type deal – that should not be offensive…  ‘cuz the St. Nick – he’s got a belly – let’s admit it!  There’s always an “artist” in a group of co-workers – let them use that hidden talent to make a great look-alike face with sharpies.

These are just a couple of ideas to have a little fun in the workplace this Christmas.  Thanks to Pinterest for the cute photos.  I believe we can be fun and funny without being nasty and offensive in the workplace.  Let’s be honest – nobody wants to be there – and nobody wants to be offended by our co-worker’s attempted stab at humor.  If you’re going to do something funny – make it good – but think of the golden rule, do unto others and you’d have them do unto you!  🙂

TL ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY (12)

untitled (53)

I admit it – I am at times an over-enthusiastic Conservative Republican Christian.  I believe government should be small and people and their ideas are the solutions to problems – not necessarily throwing money at them.  I believe prayer changes things – and God can move people to do the right thing – to help those around, thus, solving problems.

The lesson I need to learn is how not to get sucked into controversial discussions that will do nothing but annoy everyone.  I have to be a Christian first – follow Christ – and then be a Conservative Republican.  My relationship with my Lord has to come first and I need to be more kind to everyone, whether they agree with me or not.  Is it easy?  NO – but with Christ all things are possible.

I CAN LET IT GO

This is a jumping off point.  God is love and Christ is redemption.  Hope is alive and well.  How can I be kind today?  Here are just a few ideas:

  1. I can tell a parent they are doing a great job.
  2. I can drag my neighbor’s trash bin to the curb along with my own.
  3. I can write a note to someone I have not seen in a long time.
  4. I can help someone at the grocery store if I see they are short of money.
  5. I can place a flower on someone’s windshield with a note that says, “Have a Nice Day”.
  6. I can let someone have a parking space they are vying for.
  7. I can show my appreciation to someone by telling their boss they are doing a great job.
  8. I can make some extra soup to take to a sick friend.
  9. I can tell a veteran I appreciate their service for America.
  10. I can tell a stranger that Jesus loves them and that I will pray for them.

I get caught up in political issues when really I need to get caught up in being kind to everyone regardless of political affiliation.  We are people before we are political.  The fact is, we live in the greatest country in the world, and yes I care about the direction we’re going, but I need to be more kind and less critical.  :-/

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY

TL 10-4 WORLD CARD MAKING DAY

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. – Ecclesiastes 9:10

Do you enjoy being crafty and making a friend’s day? So do I! Today is WORLD CARD MAKING DAY, so let’s get busy making some happy cards!

How cute is that? It’s a real birthday candle!

I like this get well card! I’m sure receiving this would put a smile on my face!

Nowadays there are many methods to create cards of all types! Stamps and ink, punches and other ways to cut shapes, or maybe like me, you want to make your cards digitally. There is no right or wrong way to make a card and the type of card you make is limited only by your imagination!

I’ve never made an interactive card before, have you?

I like to make Thanksgiving cards. I’m so thankful for my friends and like to make them something special to let them know I care about them. I’m not sure if I could do all the drawing for this, but I’d be willing to try this:

How about sending some Thanksgiving Blessings?

Fall is the time of year we begin to think about warmth and nothing catches my eye faster than a cozy quilt. I don’t know how to make a quilt, but I think I could do this cute card:

There are literally TONS of ideas for cards of all kinds on the internet. Pinterest alone can keep you busy searching for just the right idea!

Oh – take a look at this one. I think I could even do this!

So many cute ideas! Get a group of friends together and start making some cards today! I’m sure you can think of someone who could use a handmade card just from you. Many years ago my pastor told me that when you give a gift, it reflects your personality. It’s the same principle with a handmade card. That card is something you took time to make especially for someone. When you take time – time you will never get back – to show someone how special they are, it means a great deal. Have fun making cards today! 😀

GOD'S WORK ETHIC

If you aren’t fired with enthusiasm, then you will be fired with enthusiasm.  – Vince Lombardi

http://youtu.be/TmEwFVNlPhE

We work to honor God, not men. We want to do the best job we can because God has blessed us so abundantly.

I was only 2 years old when this woman began selling cosmetics door-to-door. Mary Kay Ash is now a household name, but back in 1963, she was doing some really hard work. She didn’t mind doing all that hard work because she not only believed in the product she was selling, but she had the right attitude toward her work. She did her work as though it was for God, not men.

She was in her mid-forties when she set out to make this dream a reality. Although I am older than that, it is my sincere hope and prayer that one day my hard work will pay off. I understand that the payment may not be monetary and that’s fine because I only want what God wants me to have, however, I do have a dream and enough enthusiasm and excitement in my heart and soul to keep writing!

A mediocre idea that generates enthusiasm will go farther than a great idea that inspires no one.  – Mary Kay Ash

That has been my prayer since I began writing. The first time I wrote a blog post a few years back, I prayed, “Lord, please let this be inspirational. Please sprinkle this with Your blessing, and Your inspiration.” Has it worked? I believe that God will do what He wants to do with it, when He sees fit. I wouldn’t have it any other way – His timing is perfect!

I hope and pray my blog posts and poems have been contagious in your life! I want the joy of the Lord to leap out and make you smile and begin singing praises to Him! This is me buckling my seat belt. OK, Lord, I’m ready – YOU do the driving… let’s GO! ❤
