COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (30)

John sent me a great video!  He said this is a hidden creek 10 miles Southeast of Augusta, Kansas.  His appreciation for God’s creation makes me want to go out and plant a garden.  Okay, at the very least, it makes me want to go outside and make mud pies!  🙂

Under the giving snow blossoms a daring spring.  – Terri Guillemets

FLOWERS IN THE SNOW

It was quite a sight to see snow on Easter morning, but isn’t that just like God?  You know, when I taught Sunday School, my favorite lessons were object lessons.  Maybe it’s because I’ve always been a visual learner.  You can talk me to death, but until I see something and have it click in my own mind, talking just doesn’t do much good.  Don’t make me read boring statistics either, or you’ll lose me completely.  I believe God sent that snow to remind us that on Easter, the plan of Salvation was completed and He is more than able and willing to wash our sins as white as snow.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.  – Romans 10:9-10

Spring is a time of renewal – a time to begin anew.  What a great time to ask God into your heart and life.  He wants to be the Lord of your life.  Let’s pray this simple prayer together.  If you already know Jesus as Lord and Savior, what a great prayer of rededication and recommitment to Him:

Lord Jesus Christ,

I know that I have sinned
and done things that have hurt you.

I am willing to turn away
from what is wrong in my life.

I want to go where you lead in the future.

Thank you for dying on the cross
so that I might be forgiven.

Come into my life this day;
Come in as my Saviour and Lord:
Come in to be with me for ever.

Thank you Lord Jesus.
Amen.

You know – sometimes God’s children just need to laugh.  Before it gets too far away from Easter, I want to share a poem with you.  My friend Deanna posted a photo and said it was a naked peep taking a bath in her cup of hot tea.  I thought I’d split a stitch, I laughed so hard!  How could that not become a poem?  Laughter is one of many…  gifts from Heaven.  🙂

GIFTS FROM HEAVEN

ROMANS 11:29 ON 11/29

TL 11-29 ROMANS 11-29 ON 11-29

For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.  – Romans 11:29

There are tangible gifts that God gives us for a season – gifts that are not eternal, but temporary – we don’t understand why we have to lose these gifts / blessings, but we have to accept God’s plan and know that He will sustain us no matter what.

Paul has looked through a telescope to get a glimpse of just how big God is, and he invites us to take a look for ourselves.  The gifts in this verse are not tangible, they are special and spiritual gifts from God – His free grace, having to do with the spiritual and eternal welfare of the souls of men.  Once we accept Christ into our hearts and lives, these things are ours for eternity and will never be taken from us – they are without repentance – immutable and unalterable.  God will never revoke them or take them away from us once we’ve accepted them.  Why?  Because God never changes and He is faithful to love and care for His own at all times.  There are no degrees or shadow of distinction.  His grace stands immovable and reliable.

Because God’s will is sovereign and He never changes – we can rest in and rely on His promises.

How many things are reliable in this world?  Not many…  in this life people make promises and often don’t keep them.

God’s call on your life is forever – He will never take it back.  The gifts and abilities that God gave you are yours to use for Him.

Once you walk through the door of Salvation, you belong to God for eternity.  He will never sever that relationship with you.

Walk through the door, shutting the door behind you.  Use your God-given talents and abilities to glorify your heavenly Father.  He will help you find a ministry if you ask Him.  🙂

FREE THINKERS DAY

TL 1-29 FREE THINKERS DAY

DYSLEXIA
Today we celebrate those who think for themselves…  it is the birthday of Thomas Paine and is also FREE THINKER’S DAY!!!  Did you know that Christians can be free thinkers???  Yes, they sure can!  I am one to weigh everything in my mind and come to my own conclusions.  Of course, being dyslexic, sometimes the process is – shall we say, hilarious!?!?!

If you struggle with reading and writing, I want to encourage you to keep reading and keep writing. I know that learning is difficult and when you read and skip lines it can make you want to pull your hair out. Or when you read quite as quiet or stuck as struck or… well there are many examples.  And keep your wits about you, your sense of humor by your side, and weigh your thoughts for yourself.  Be a free-thinker.  Take everything to God – weigh it against His Word.  Figure it out.

God had His hand on me. I made some great friends in school who were in the advanced classes. Some of them even helped me with homework. They didn’t make fun of me and I learned a great deal from them.  They let me grow at my pace and let me reason things out.

If you struggle with dyslexia, you are not alone. It will take you longer to learn, but you can learn. You are not stupid. Don’t let anyone tell you that! Do you know to this day I skip lines when I’m trying to type things up? I was a secretary! Can you believe that? I had a very patient boss who understood because his son was dyslexic too. Once in a while I would just miss an entire line on something and have to do it over again. I’m fine if I can use either the cursor on the computer, or my finger on the written page. I get into trouble when I’m trying to put something from a printed page onto a computer screen. No finger to help me follow the lines, so often times the lines get skipped completely! Take a look at what I see. I fall into the “wavy words” category. I wish they’d just stop moving ‘cuz it makes me sea-sick! Oh, and don’t even ask me to read while I’m riding in a car – huh-uh, no way!

I’ve used HUMOR to cover up for a great deal of frustration.  One example is this:  When life hands you LEMONS you make LEMONADE.  But guess what?  Life hands a dyslexic person MELONS and we make MELON BALLS!!!

Just this morning I was designing one of my own poems and skipped an entire line when I was typing it up! It’s just a quirk that will probably be with me forever, I guess. The important thing is to surround yourself with understanding people who encourage you and support your dreams! You can do anything you want to do. Just do the very best you can! Hold on to hope and don’t let anyone do your thinking for you!  You can DO this!!!
