Today we celebrate FREEDOM DAY!!!

Remember when Christ was praying in the garden and He wanted the cup to pass from Him? I wonder if we take this free grace we’ve been given for granted. He would not have had to go through with it. It was not something that we deserved, that’s for sure.

But He did go through with it – all of it. There was death on Friday and Life on Sunday with a very long and agonizing Saturday in-between, no doubt. Because of Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary, we have eternal life if we will believe. We need to have more than a “head knowledge” because even the demons believe that much. We need to have a “heart knowledge” as well.

Christ asked the question, “Who do you say I am?” That is a question that each of us as individuals must answer for ourselves. Is Jesus really who He claimed to be? I believe with my whole heart and soul He is.

Even as Jesus hung on the cross, He extended free grace to the thief! He does not want anyone to perish! If we are lost it is not because of anything God did… but it is your own pride or selfishness or stubborn bull-headed determination to resist the truth. Christ is so anxious to call you His own. Today that thief; that wicked evildoer, is in Paradise with Christ! He loves everyone!

Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.  – 1 Corinthians 7:23

The grace is free, but make no mistake, the price paid for it was heavy. Christ did not have to go through with the crucifixion. At any point He could have called it off and went back to heaven. No sacrifice for our sins and no one to call Savior and Lord. Where would we be then? We all know the answer to that question.

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?”  – William A. Ward

I don’t know about you, but I’m especially grateful to Christ for willingly giving His life on that cross. I’m thankful that He extended free grace to the thief. That means there is hope for those who make “death-bed confessions.” The thief didn’t get baptized – obviously. Yet Christ saved him – there – on the cross.

Free grace.  Thank You, Lord!  ❤
