A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

A couple of things happen once you accept the living water that Jesus offers…  first, you no longer feel thirsty – the void has been filled and second, you just have this overwhelming need to go tell somebody about what you’ve found!  That’s just what happens.

Mrs. Clopp was the sweetest little lady and the wife of our pastor at the time.  I have no idea why my dad had his camera in church that day – but I love that I have this picture.  This reminds me of the time when the Lord washed my sins away and I started a new life with Him.  That Sunday evening I was baptized…  I know – again with the WATER!  Our salvation and baptism only happens because of God’s grace through Christ – and the blood that Christ shed on the cross at Calvary.  What a great thought to ponder on this Good Friday!  God loves us so much – I hope you know Him too.

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but I think my love of rain stems from this experience.  It usually rains on my birthday, and I’ve been known to go outside and dance in it.  Water is so cleansing and everything smells so clean, fresh and new after a gentle rain.  I know that the water is symbolism, but it represents a very real work that happens inside.

No matter what happens in my life, how much I fall or fail or get into sticky situations…  I have this time to revisit.  God was there – I was there.  Life gets messy sometimes and I am so far from perfect, believe me, but I know there is forgiveness waiting from the Lord as I move forward.  I could have let things make me bitter in life, but I chose to learn the lessons and let them make me better.

Dance in the Living Water that comes from God.  Remember that you may fall or fail or get into sticky situations…  but your GOD will never fail you – ever!  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

Do you have brown eyes?  Maybe they are blue, or green, or hazel, or gray.  I once saw a photo of a white cat with purple eyes, but I’m pretty sure that was photo shopped.  No matter what color your eyes are, they are the windows to your soul – and you know what?  Your eyes let others know so much.  Your love ratio shows through in your eyes.  If God’s love lives in your soul, His love will shine through – and people will see it in your eyes.

We look each other in the eye and become uncomfortable when a person doesn’t look us in the eye.  We feel they somehow have something to hide or are guilty of something.  Of course, it could be that a person is just shy, but avoiding eye contact raises red flags to most of us.

The way the world thinks of love is so superficial and lightweight.  There’s barely a commitment involved in relationships anymore, which is so sad.  God’s love is so strong and He is so faithful and reliable to us, isn’t He?  He knows I’m not always going to get things right, but He knows that my heart is in the right place and my mind is fixed on His Word.  Most people are fairly self-centered, if we’re completely honest about it.  God is all about us and wants His best plan for us.  Why would we not want Him in our lives?

I was having a chuckle about the dance moves in this video.  These kids are obviously Baptists…  we don’t dance and this is our signature move.  Ha!

If ever there was a verse that Christians should memorize…  this is it.  Let’s memorize it – and put it into practice.  Let’s be the children God wants us to be.

I ran across this little video and thought it was just precious.  If you need encouragement to memorize this verse…  here ya go!

I like that little shirt too – so cute!

In closing, I want to emphasize that this is the most important commandment ever issued from the throne of glory.  I we choose to neglect this one, we can’t keep any of the others.  If we choose to observe it, we can easily keep the others.

Love trumps everything in God’s book.  God is love – and He expects nothing less from His children as they interact with one another.  🙂

SQUARE DANCING DAY

TL 11-29 SQUARE DANCING DAY

Imagine this little pig calling:

Bow to your partner, bow to your corner, circle left, alemand left … swing and promenade home.

11-29 LIFE ENHANCING

A square dance is a dance for four couples (eight dancers) arranged in a square, with one couple on each side, facing the middle of the square and has roots that stretch back to 15-century Europe.   Singing calls were introduced in traditional square dancing before World War II.  It’s the singing calls that make square dancing unique.

SQUARE DANCING DAY is a day to celebrate this fun dance.  There are an estimated 191 calories burned by doing 30 minutes of  square dancing, so the health benefit alone is worth cheering for!  When I was a kid we had neighbors who were members of a square dancing club and went out once a week to do si do.  They were in great shape and it seemed to enrich their marriage.

There are social advantages to being part of a club and square dancing sounds like fun, doesn’t it?  You get to wear cute outfits and dance to some of the best music (in my opinion).  Everyone needs to get out of the house and socialize once in a while.

Aren’t they cute?  It’s never too early to learn to square dance.  It’s a good way to socialize, exercise and stay mentally sharp.

There are square dancing clubs across the nation.  If you don’t know how to square dance, your local club probably offers lessons and there are many helps online as well.  There’s no excuse to sit on the sidelines and watch anymore.  Put your prettiest square dance dress on, fix your hair and make-up and get out there!

It seems like being part of a square dancing club might be the last place to find a “partner”, but many singles have been successful by joining a square dancing club.  If you are single, the idea is to enjoy your life and if you like to square dance, just do it and if that special someone shares your passion for square dancing, that’s great!  Swing your partner and do si do!  Wink!   😉
