It is DR. SEUSS DAY!!!  I grew up with his books and the wisdom and truth they held.  My favorite story was Horton Hears a Who.  I remember mama taught me about my indoor voice with that little movie.  She said, “If Horton had not been listening so quietly, he would not have heard the who.”  It made sense to me.

How many times have you quoted Dr. Seuss, even as an adult?  I know there are several quotes that I still fall back on.  Here are just a few:

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”  Yes, I’ve tried to hang on to that one for sure.

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”   That is true.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”   I certainly hold out hope for the “going places” part.

“Teeth are always in style.”   What a wonderful way to encourage kids to brush and floss.

“A person’s a person, no matter how small.”   That’s from “Horton Hears a Who”, of course.

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”   Yes – I happily agree with that!

“Oh, what a day. I will make it a holiday.”   That’s what I try to do!

“I do not like green eggs and ham.  I do not like them, Sam I am.”

“To the world you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world.”    Awe…

“The people that mind don’t matter, and the people that matter don’t mind.”   Don’t mind me.  LOL!!!

“Everything stinks till it’s finished.”   Oh yeah…  I totally get that.

“So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.”    Indeed!

There will never be another Dr. Seuss.  The stories and quotes are just as fresh and meaningful today as ever.
