A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

Just as the Bible instructs children to honor their parents and be obedient, it also has an outline for parents – particularly fathers in this case.  Think of the attributes of our Heavenly Father…  He is slow to anger, as earthly fathers should be.  He does not use severities in dealing with us – again, earthly fathers would be wise to take note of that.

Earthly fathers should do their best to work upon their child’s reason.  The old adage “because I said so” is an example of what not to say.  Children need answers to the fundamental question – why?   It’s always best to use reason so they understand where you’re coming from.

While there’s nothing wrong with setting limits and making it clear where the line is, anything less that proper and compassionate correction is wrong.  Make sure they learn about God and His love as well as His ways.  Pray for your children – and pray with them.  Show them that you practice what you preach.  Prayer in the household should be as natural as breathing.  God can change the heart, yet He gives His blessing to the good lessons and examples of parents, and answers their prayers.

Fathers who want their children to be rich and accomplished, whatever becomes of their souls, must not look for the blessing of God.  That’s not to say a child can not be successful in life – but it is to say the main interest in training up a child should be their spiritual condition.  God will lead for all those other things.  Seek Him first…  then all other things will be added.

God entrusts fathers with precious little ones.  When dads introduce their kids to the Heavenly Father, it makes God smile!  Remember – when we get to Heaven, God’s not going to ask you about how much money you made or how much cool stuff you had while on earth.  He does care about how you raise your children.  It’s important to show them Jesus.  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART 35

The Ten Commandments are listed twice in the Hebrew Bible, first at Exodus 20:1–17, and then at Deuteronomy 5:6–21. Both versions state that God inscribed them on two stone tablets, which he gave to Moses on Mount Sinai.

Ten Commandments List

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall make no idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  4. Keep the Sabbath day holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet.

I’m the first to admit it…  I am an ID addict.  I watch true crime dramas all the time.  Are you surprised?  Yes, I have all of the “Touched By An Angel” episodes on DVD, but once in a while I get glued to Investigation Discovery.  Then they start showing reruns…  sigh.  If I already know “who done it”, it’s not as interesting.

The only sad difference between a good mystery novel and ID is that the cases on ID are real.  They’re not stories from an author’s macabre imagination – they really happened.  It’s murder, and it’s really very sad.  My heart goes out to the victim’s families.

Another sad reality is that abortion is murder!

I know what you’re thinking…  you’re thinking “Linda’s beating her pro-life drum again.”  Well, you win the prize.  I will beat this drum until the Lord returns to earth to take me home.  I want to see a society that considers adoption instead of abortion!  I’m so thankful my mother didn’t abort me – I was adopted – and I’m thankful to be here.  I want every baby to have the RIGHT to be born into the world – give life a fighting chance!

Every article I read about cases of abortion report that the women have a sort of regret that never goes away.  Even if they think abortion is absolutely the right thing to do at the time, the feeling of regret scars the rest of their lives.

a-treasure-found-late

Life is a gift and a baby is a treasure from God…  always.

The United States constitution does not specifically give the unborn any rights whatsoever – not even the right to be born.  WHY???  What would it take to change that?  I want to see it changed.

I hope you’ll get this DVD – it comes out in March, 2017!  http://www.voicelessthemovie.com/

life-is-a-precious-giftBe thankful for the babies in your life.  Right now, find them, hold them tight and tell them how much you love them.  God sees fit to take loved ones from us in His time.  Tomorrow is never promised to us – shoot – the next minute isn’t promised.  Love while you can love.  Hug those little ones and give them all the encouragement you can muster.  Pray for them and be supportive in every way.  Let them know you’re in their corner no matter what.

Even if that baby is eighteen years old…  they’re still your baby.  Your love and support will always matter to them.  Be there – sometimes no words are necessary.  Just be there.  🙂

PRO-LIFE DAY OF SILENT SOLIDARITY

tl-10-18-pro-life-day-of-silent-solidarity

I am pro-life; however, I’m not always silent.  For so many reasons, I am NOT voting for the out of touch, power-hungry, wealth seeking Hillary Clinton.  The ads about how she is champion of children everywhere makes me sick.  She forgot to make it clear that the children she supports are the ones who are already born.  She has said time and again that she thinks late-term abortion – that means up to the time of birth – is fine.  This is SO immoral and unnecessary.  You know what gets me?  As president, she would have the POWER to change the laws for the unborn – but if she did that, she would lose liberal pro-choice votes.  It’s ALL about winning without taking morals or values into consideration.  There’s man’s law and there’s GOD’S law…  I’d rather cross man’s law than God’s law any day and twice on Sunday.  God says abortion is MURDER.  It is murder, regardless of what the Constitution of the U.S. says.  No wonder our country is in trouble.

I don’t typically write about anything political, but this election is about so much more than any election in recent history.  The fate of the Supreme Court is in question.  The safety or lack thereof here in the U.S. is at stake.  Healthcare – don’t get me started.  We need to get away from all the tabloid junk from decades ago and get back to the issues, folks!  This is stupid…  we have debt beyond anything we’ve ever known.  America is in deep doo…  and all anyone can talk about is what someone said or did decades ago – it makes me nuts!  Quit it!

On Meet The Press, Mrs. Clinton expressed her views about unborn children.  She sort of double-talks around about how we would certainly help the MOTHER as much as possible – yeah…  but that poor unborn child – well…  not so much.

In Hillary world an unborn child is unprotected.  Who in their right mind kills an unborn child – the most helpless of all God’s creations?  Who in their right mind supports that platform???  As a man (or woman) thinketh, so is he (she).  Has she been a highly paid big time lawyer and politician for so long that she really doesn’t have a clue that it is evil and God calls it MURDER?

You know…  I’m just asking.  I’m not a highly paid anything.  I’m not a lawyer or a politician.  I’m just a person who wants to understand a country that does not protect the most innocent – the weakest ones among us???  It’s sad – just so very sad.  Jesus weeps.images-206

As I said, there are so many issues where Mrs. Clinton and I disagree.  The issue of abortion is a total deal-breaker in my book.  You know, if we ask God to Bless America…  how can we expect Him to bless our country if we show no regard for HIS ways???  Do you want peace, tranquility, prosperity and blessings from God?  Yeah, me too!  We have to stop murdering the unborn.  America will be judged – and God can and will withhold HIS blessing on us if we don’t get it together!  We need to humble ourselves before God and ask forgiveness – all of us – and turn from our wicked ways!  ONLY then will He heal our land and bless us abundantly.  Read 2 Chronicles 7:14.  Commit it to memory.  It matters.

It’s my two cents worth…  I pray for the upcoming election in America.  I pray that somehow in a quiet moment, Mrs. Clinton has an ah-ha moment and realizes that God’s laws trump the American Constitution and all the power and wealth she has accumulated all these years will not last forever.  I pray for the unborn babies in America.  It’s never wrong to do the RIGHT THING.  🙂

TEN DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA

TL 7-1 THROUGH 7-10 TEN DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA

FOR OUR CHILDREN

Written July 3, 2013

Fourth Of July
Our Flag

I was looking at the flag like I always do each morning, standing back after saluting it, thinking about what we have and are taking for granted.

I have flown the flag all these years, not as a duty, but as a privilege. See, I did not need Congress to tell me I could solute the flag in my civilian clothes. I have done it every morning from the time I retired from the Army, just as I did every day while I wore the uniform.

While I was looking at the flag this morning, I saw faces of the past peering from within. I saw faces that I have seen firsthand, with lifeless bodies and death in their eyes. I saw the tears that were shed on the battle fields by their peers. I saw the faces of all people in the support groups, no matter what service, doing their best to get the necessary, needed munitions and equipment, without which they could not survive. I saw the tired faces of the communicators, as their hours ran into days, the days into months, and the months into years, with untiring efforts to get the traffic back to the people so they could plan the tactics to win the next battle.

I saw the faces in the support units working hour after hour to fix and get the needed materials back to the troops that needed them. I saw the happy faces of the loved ones as they returned to their families after having been away, supporting our country and what they believed in. I saw the faces of sorrow and heartbreak of the families as they gave their loved ones back to this land, returning their bodies to the land they gave their lives for.

I saw the faces of the people who remained here and supported, defended, and worked with pride in the defense of this country. I saw the majority of these faces putting God as the Real Commander and Chief at the forefront of this country. I saw the faces of the majority of people flying our flag with pride and dignity. Without all these faces, I could only see a flag.
Now I see these faces fading and getting fewer… I see other activities taking away the people who once lined the streets waving the flag with pride. I don’t see parents teaching their kids the pride that they not yet understood, but knew how to sing AMERICA and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, that one day would mean the same to them as it did to their parents.
I see the educators of our children teaching them not how great this country is and how much they have to be proud of, but that this county is “flawed.” I see fewer and fewer flags displayed with pride, without care of how they are properly displayed, or even taking the time to find out about Flag Etiquette: When and how you put them to full staff and half, etc. I see the dwindling of pride. It saddens me to see our values, ideals and pride of our country continually disappear…

I pray that people once again put the real Commander In Chief at the head of the nation, that the flag once again has a meaning of what the country stands for, taking the time to display it to the world, showing that we are still here and still fighting for what we believe in and what our forefathers passed on to us. Let this Fourth of July be the turning point of putting this country back on its way to again be the shining light to an Idea that all men are created equal and endowed with life, liberty and pursuit of happiness… Today make the commitment to restore America to the greatest nation this world has ever had, and putting the Constitution back as the document that protects our rights from a government that would slowly but surely take away all our rights granted to us by this great document. Remember, without your sacrifices and dedication, this will not happen. Be willing to stand up for what you believe in or you will never stand up for anything.

Thanks for letting this old man ramble on through this. I know you can tell that I am not an author or a connoisseur of words. I am just one of the people that are not liked very much by the people in DC nowadays. I love God, Our Country as it was, and the right to do what I have to in order to protect my family, which is my responsibility that was given to me by my Father in Heaven, and the Constitution. Without the faces I saw in the flag when I looked at it, it’s once again just a flag.

God Bless You and Our Country. Spend the 4th with some time and thoughts of what this day means and what the flag represents. YOU are the country’s destiny. Live up to your obligations as an American. God Bless!

My father used to say, “If you don’t stand up for something, you’ll fall for anything.”  Do you know what you believe, or do you just sort of wander around the buffet table picking and choosing a little of this philosophy and a bit of that ideal?  We are a society of Weebles.  You remember Weebles, right???  They wobble but they don’t fall down.  Nobody stands strong because the virus called political correctness has made us afraid that we will be profiling or judging another if we disagree with them.  It’s maddening.

I know this was for the 4th of July, but it’s always appropriate to post good thoughts about patriotism.  If our educators could get children to put their phones down and get off the computers for just a few hours, then teach some very basic lessons such as the song AMERICA and the Pledge of Allegiance.  Wow, how about a prayer?  I remember prayer in school.  We didn’t have one tenth of the grief they have in school these days.  Hmm…  I wonder why?

Well – class is in session.  Let’s pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, You are our Commander and Chief forever.  Politicians come and they go in America.  We may agree with their ideology or not, but Father God, we keep our eyes fixed on You.  We know that You will take care of us regardless of the circumstances that surround us.  Please Lord, we ask that You will supernaturally protect the U.S. from radical Islāmic Terrorists.  Help us to use common sense and wisdom in deciding whether to allow more refugees into our country, knowing that terrorists could infiltrate and enter our country in this manner.  We want to be the people You want us to be, but we want to be safe in our country from the radicalized threat.  Lord, please help us to embrace more of our heritage in the classroom than we have in the past.  Our children need to learn about patriotism and have a positive attitude about America instead of being taught that we are somehow flawed or bad.  May we teach our young people the importance of respecting our country’s flag by teaching them the rules of flying it.  Lastly, Lord we pray that Christian parents will be strong about what they will and will not allow in the classroom.  We pray we don’t get too busy making a living to know what is going on in our children’s lives.  School is a strong influence on developing minds and hearts.  We pray that America will wake up and make You the ultimate Commander and Chief.  It’s in the wonderful Name of Christ Jesus we pray, Amen.

KEEP CALM AND PRAYIn the light of events in Dallas, TX – there’s a poem written by Lucinda that I want to post here today.  Please take a moment to pray for the families of fallen officers.  What a tragedy!  My heart is broken for those families in blue.  😦  As I told her earlier – well said!  STOP THE BLOOD

NATIONAL PLAYGROUND SAFETY WEEK

TL 4-25 NATIONAL PLAYGROUND SAFETY WEEK

April 25-29 is NATIONAL PLAYGROUND SAFETY WEEK!

Each year over 200,000 children are injured on America’s playgrounds.  Because there was not a nationally coordinated effort to insure safe playgrounds, the National Program for Playground Safety was created in October 1995.  It has helped communities across the country examine the critical issues surrounding playground safety.

While having this support is helpful, there are four contributing factors to properly maintain a safe playground atmosphere:

  1. Provide proper supervision of children on playgrounds.
  2. Design age-appropriate playgrounds.
  3. Provide proper fall surfacing under and around playgrounds.
  4. Properly maintain playground equipment.

This spring and summer the entire family can pack a picnic lunch and enjoy their local playground knowing that the children can play with wild abandon.child-1254146_1280Look at this little guy…  he is king of his castle!children-playing-334531_1920Around and around we go…  oh I’m getting dizzy!boy-722420_1920Well, I got to the bottom of the slide and thought I’d just rest a second.playground-888066_1280I’m climbing way up high!playground-855703_1920Here I come… weeeeeee!children-334528_1280Do I look like a monkey on the monkey bars?

On the Playground
By Dr. Holly

I love the playground –
I feel so free
To run around
Between the trees.

I can dance
And I can shout.
I can prance
And jump about.

I can swing
The whole long day.
My feet touch the sky –
Up, up, away!

I can spin
On the merry-go-round
Until I’m dizzy,
Then slow me down.

I can cross
The monkey bars
Like an astronaut
From star to star.

I can climb –
I never stop! –
Like a mountain lion
Straight to the top!

Physical activity acts as fuel for the imagination…  and imagination, well…  it’s a wonderful gift from God!  We use imagination every day of our lives – so does that mean we need physical activity, or the dreaded “E” word – exercise – every day?  I think that’s probably the case!  So, a day at the playground is just what the doctor ordered!SWINGING THROUGH LIFE

Enjoy those little ones while you can.  Time passes by so quickly and these are not days you’ll get to redo, so spend time with them every chance you get!  Have a great week and stay active!  🙂

EAT ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST

TL 2-18 EAT ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFASTICE CREAM FOR BREAKFASTWhat is your favorite flavor???  Strawberry, vanilla, chocolate – or maybe all three – NEAPOLITAN!  I am eating a bowl of low-fat, no sugar added mint chocolate chip from my local Braum’s store.  Oh, it’s good!   While eating ice cream for breakfast is such a great idea, the most important part of this is WHY I’m eating ice cream for breakfast – and why you should too…

I invite you to click on the link below to find out more about this great holiday – and it would be a great idea to contribute to a children’s hospital such as St. Jude’s today – and give in honor of one of the children they are helping there.

https://eaticecreamforbreakfast.com/

In the comments below, let me know what flavor ice cream you are having for breakfast this morning – and who you’re eating it in honor of.

My special little person is Bella.  Her daddy is a minister here in Wichita.  My friend attends their church and reports that the whole church is praying in faith and trusting in our Lord to heal this little girl…  she’s a precious and brave little soldier she has so much faith!

Sometimes her counts will be down so she’ll come to church wearing a mask with her hands raised up high praising the Lord she’s such an inspiration to us all.   – Denna Bowmaker

Bella was diagnosed at 18 months old with a brain tumor.  They did surgery when she was 22 months old to take as much of the tumor out as they safely could.  Since the tumor is attached to the optic nerve, the entire tumor could not be removed surgically.  She’s gone through several rounds of chemo in her young life.  At times the tumor stops growing.  Unfortunately, it’s currently growing so she is going back to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Tennessee for more chemotherapy.

Recently the enzyme levels in her liver were elevated so they had to stop chemo.  Once they get the levels back to normal they resume treatment.

Her church family is constantly lifting her to God in prayer.  They even wear shirts!  Isn’t that great?12439263_1092000810831817_1893896791231558060_nThe photo is dark – but it says, FIGHT AGAINST BRAIN CANCER BECAUSE I NEED BELLA IN MY LIFE – SUPPORTING BELLA’S BATTLE.

Please visit BELLA’S BATTLE on facebook!  There are photos and updates from Bella’s parents.  Above all, please join your prayers with ours – because our God is the GREAT PHYSICIAN!

https://www.facebook.com/BellasBattle/?fref=ts

As I enjoy ice cream, I’m thinking of her, praying for her and hoping that God will touch this sweet six-year-old and heal her.  She’s so brave and has such BIG faith!

May God richly bless you as you bless these little ones.  We overlook so many blessings and take for granted that which many of these children would appreciate so much.  The health we enjoy (although yes as we get older we creak and pop) is what these children would consider a miracle in their lives.  Do you have a child who is in good health?  Give thanks and make a donation to St. Jude to help those families who are concentrating on regaining good health for their child.  🙂

LUKE 11:13 ON 11/13

TL LUKE 11 13 ON 11 13

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!  – Luke 11:13

Right away we are reminded that we’re evil by nature.  Indeed we are, but we still know how to be good to our children.  As parents we do our very best to make sure they are well cared for, yet our heavenly Father gives His precious Holy Spirit to His children because He loves us even more than we love our kids.

Do your children have to beg for you to feed them?  Did you know that you don’t have to beg God to receive His Holy Spirit?  He wants to give His Spirit to you – and He will give it to you gladly!

What a timely post since we are just weeks away from the largest gift-giving time of the year – Christmas!   We do give good gifts to children, but just imagine how much more God wants to give to you.  It boggles the mind to imagine how much the Father loves us and wants to help us every day!

Whether we know it or not, we need God’s Holy Spirit in our lives to guide us down the narrow road.  In this day we think we need fame and fortune, but we need to count those crosses along the way – Amen!

So today, with God’s Holy Spirit living in our hearts, we have all the help we need to face our challenges.  We don’t even have to be afraid of Friday the 13th…  yes, that’s today.  No worries…  God’s got this!  😉
