HERMIT DAY

TL 10-29 HERMIT DAY

10-29 YOU MAY THINK

The Lord will make war for you, you have only to keep quiet.  – Exodus 14:14

I am so tempted to argue about political things because I care about the direction the country is headed.  I’ve had to read Scriptures that remind me that God is God and this is all part of His plan.  I need to trust Him more and be still.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. – Psalm 46:10

Today we celebrate HERMIT DAY!  It’s a day to be in quiet seclusion.  For me it will be a day to ponder and wonder about the future.  A day to re-examine my own beliefs and a day to pray to my Maker.  I just want peace in the world, in my country and in my house.  I will pray to that end.  I’m fortunate enough to have the opportunity to spend much of my time alone, so I do a lot of praying.  I prefer to live away from the crowds and the sea of humanity.  Maybe it’s because I grew up an only child, but I know how to be alone.  I do it quite well and find all sorts of projects to keep myself occupied.

Today I will celebrate my lifestyle.  If you would like to be a hermit today, just run off by yourself to a secluded area where no one can find you.  It’s not difficult to leave – just leave.  Take a day to recharge your batteries.

Take a book.  Take a Bible and a devotional book or prayer-book.  Find a peaceful lake or a place you’ve always wanted to go.  Let the ones you love know you are leaving but don’t tell them where you’re going.  If you take your phone – turn it off.  When you are finished with the hermitization process – turn your phone on and let them know you’re ok and on your way home.

I think it’d be fun to bake some HERMIT COOKIES on hermit day.  But then, I’m weird.

It’s amazing how much good it will do (especially mentally) to be a hermit for one day.

My house is so quiet when the TV is turned off and there’s no one here but me.  I enjoy the quiet, especially when I’m trying to write.   Some folks just can’t let go of their hectic lifestyle – not even for a day.  They think they’ll get too bored or miss out on something.  Take a chance, go away, talk to God, just pray.  Or, bake some hermit cookies and pray while they’re baking.  You will be so glad you did – trust me!  🙂

THANKS LIVING DAY 26

TL THANKSGIVING

PRAYER OF THANKS FOR TEA

Have you ever felt stressed out? Stop laughing, I’m serious. It’s common knowledge that stress manifests itself physically. Migraine headaches, high blood pressure and even cardiac problems are all stress-related symptoms. We hear a lot these days about finding balance or finding our center.

I have an anchor. I have a rock. He is my main go-to source for peace and tranquility. He provides blessed assurance of protection in His Word, The Bible. His Name is Jesus and His Father is my Father too. I pray to God, through His Son, Jesus, Who died on a cross to save me from my sins. Prayer is speaking with God. It means I talk, but I also need to listen. God’s voice is not audible, and I’ve heard it described as a “still, small voice.” Some call it conscience. I call it God’s Holy Spirit speaking to me.

It takes faith – the size of a tiny mustard seed – allow God’s Holy Spirit to enter and abundant life begins. The stress at home becomes a soft answer, because The Bible tells us that a soft answer turns away wrath. The issues that seemed so large before become matters that are taken to God in prayer – and left with Him. The Bible tells us that we should not worry about anything, but pray about everything. Tell God your needs and be sure to thank Him for His answers.

I thank You God, for letting me come before You to be still and know that You are God. You are in control. That gives me peace.

Shalom. Peace be with you. Not the peace this world promises, but the peace of GOD. ❤

LIGHTHOUSE DAY

TL 8-7 LIGHTHOUSE DAY

Today we celebrate LIGHTHOUSE DAY!!! To be honest, I’ve never seen a lighthouse, except in photographs, of course. I’ve hosted parties with a lighthouse theme and I’ve read books and seen movies with lighthouses in them – but I’ve not seen a lighthouse – yet.

I would love to say that I’m going to celebrate by traveling to the East coast somewhere to visit but that’s not going to happen. I’ll be here in Kansas – smack dab in the middle of the United States for the rest of the day. I’ll be doing laundry and dusting furniture – but my mind will be elsewhere and I’ll be dreaming of crashing waves and imagining myself sauntering along a sandy beach in flip-flops. It all sounds just lovely.

Inside my empty bottle I was constructing a lighthouse while all the others were making ships. – Charles Simic

Of course, Jesus Christ is the lighthouse and may His light shine on me…  and you.

Have you ever heard the recordings that mix music with the sounds of nature? I have one that has the sound of the ocean with beautiful music. Maybe I will listen to that CD while I’m doing my chores today. I can escape Kansas just for a little while in my mind. But one day – it will be real. I will scratch that off my bucket list one day soon. ❤
