PSALM 9:1 ON 9/1

TL 9-1 PSALM 9-1 ON 9-1

For the director of music. To the tune of “The Death of the Son.” A psalm of David. I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.  – Psalm 9:1

Sometimes the most difficult thing to do is live your life in spite of the broken dreams that lie strewn behind you.  No, I’m not suicidal – don’t worry…  but it’s been a challenge lately to grab ahold of real purpose for living.  I suppose part of the problem is that I keep seeing my friends on facebook…  some of them I’ve known since high school.  They have raised their children and are now spoiling their grandchildren.  It’s as it should be and I’m very happy for them!  I just question LORD…  why is that not the way my life turned out?

I wonder what I’ve done that was so awful to be overlooked.  I am not perfect by any stretch, but neither are those who have been blessed with people in their lives.  They have big people, little people, dysfunctional people, quiet people, loud people…  what a blessing!

Does anyone else think this verse holds a great deal of irony?  I mean, do the words and the tune really mesh up?  The tune is called “The Death of the Son” – but the wonderful, uplifting praiseworthy words are…  I WILL GIVE THANKS TO YOU, LORD, WITH ALL MY HEART, I WILL TELL OF ALL YOUR WONDERFUL DEEDS.

Wow…  epiphany!  Here’s the key to living a happy, good quality life!  Regardless of the cards you are dealt in life, you find the good parts and PRAISE GOD FOR HIS GOOD DEEDS.  Although there are shattered pieces of dreams behind me, I wake up every morning and praise GOD for HIS goodness, for HIS love, for HIS grace, for HIS mercy, for HIS provision in my life.  He is all-sovereign, all-strong, all-powerful.  He is all I need in this life.

There are situations and circumstances I’ll never understand…  but then I remember that regardless of my circumstances, the LORD has done wonderful deeds in my life.  That is when I can be thankful to the LORD for my life.  Maybe He’s not done with me yet.  I’m just being still and know that HE is GOD and HE holds my simple little life in the palm of HIS great big hand.I TRUST YOU, PAPA GOD

Today let’s take a cue from David…  no matter how far you think you’ve sunk – and no matter how many tiny pieces of broken dreams lie scattered on the path behind you, trust God for answers and for hope.  Yesterday is over.  Press on, knowing that God has a wonderful plan for your future!  🙂

A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART

.TL A COMMENTARY FROM THE HEART (13)

YOU ALWAYS HAVE MY BACK

It’s not English, but you know the song. Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us.

Behold what manner of love
The Father has given unto us,
Behold what manner of love
The Father has given unto us,
That we should be called the sons of God,
That we should be called the sons of God

There are human beings that I love very much. Some I like very much. Everyone else I consider friends I have not met yet. No matter how close I am to a person, I know they are not going to be on their “A” game every single day. Humans are moody, unpredictable and let’s face it, irritating at times. I know this because I AM one. I’ve rubbed a lot of people the wrong way I’m sure. I don’t keep a list and I don’t keep track. It would use way too much paper and waste too much of my precious time!

This passion week I want to praise My Savior, Jesus Christ, for being my rock steady, dependable, reliable, never-changing, always loving, always forgiving, always positive, always available for a chat… best friend!

How much better do you feel after you’ve had a real heart-to-heart chat with your Savior? I know, right? How can anyone not find the time for that? It’s such a precious time for me! I’m tearing up – my God is my everything and my Savior paid a debt He did not owe! For ME! For YOU! How could anyone reject that kind of love? I do not understand.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! – 1 John 3:1

When I study God’s Holy Word, The Bible, particularly the story of Jesus at the cross, I’m in tears through most of it. I’m at a loss to comprehend the pain He suffered. What boggles my mind even more is knowing that He suffered that anguish FOR ME.

I wasn’t living back then, but He knew I’d be born and He knew I needed salvation. He always has my back!

I hope you will read the account of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection at some point this week. Consider asking Christ into your heart and life. ❤

MOTHER’S DAY

TL MOTHER'S DAY

My mom has been in heaven for almost 9 years and I miss her so very much.  She was more than just my mom – she was my best friend.

The other day I was looking around at the little things of hers that I treasure. In the corner of my basement is grandpa Frank’s rocking chair and mama’s sweater hanging on it. That sweater brings back so many memories. Mom wore it when she felt cold, so it went everywhere with her. It was the sweater she depended on and wore with everything.

MAMA'S SWEATER (USED 5-12-13)

It had a strong scent of sweet pea when I first got it, but through the years it has faded. I keep most of my mom’s things in that corner. Her rocking chair, sweater, quilt and candy dish make a lovely display and they make me smile.

Nothing will ever take the place of having my mother’s arms around me, but when I put her sweater on and sit in the rocking chair, it’s the next best thing. I gave her hugs while she wore that sweater many times, so feeling that sweater against my skin feels almost like getting a hug from my mom.

Our senses are amazing and trigger all sorts of emotions. I know mama’s busy doing important things in heaven, but that’s okay because I know she is happy there. She’s getting hugs from Jesus and that’s awesome! Happy Mother’s Day in heaven, mom!

Give daddy and the kiddos big hugs for me.  Tell them I love ’em.

Another Mother’s Day is here, bringing joy and pleasures new.

On this special day, Mother dear, I want to remember you.

I cannot give you costly gifts, and I’ve told you this before,

No matter what I give to you, You give back much, much more.

I’m giving you a pure, sweet rose, gathered in the early morn;

This rose you planted in my heart, the day that I was born.

In kindly, loving thoughts of you, and with the faith you still impart,

The rose I give to you today, is the love that’s in my heart.

I love you, mama! I miss you every day in a gazillion different ways. Muah!!!
