PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

I have to admit, every day of this series I have been SINGING this song from Godspell…  so I decided to post it so we can sing it together today!  🙂  https://youtu.be/kuUl522_8jQ

On this first day ‘fore Christmas we are to (take a deep breath…) have goodness in our actions, pray for strength against temptation, wisdom in decisions, patience with each other, forgiveness for our sins, give praise for His love, have love for one another, joy to share with others, peace in our hearts and (take a breath) THANK GOD FOR HIS AMAZING GRACE!TEN DAYS FORE CHRISTMAS

Goodness in our actions…  our actions.  Have you thought of your actions being a matter of choice before?  Free will is a part of God’s wonderful plan in our lives.  We are given opportunities to do good things for others, but we are free to ignore others and keep ourselves isolated from the world.  It’s a choice – whether we will be a blessing to those around us or a burden.

There are givers and takers…  God will help us to give more and take less if we want to be the kind of people He wants us to be.  We must not be confused about good deeds though – they do not in any way save us a spot in heaven.  It doesn’t work that way.  We do good deeds in response to what God through Christ has done for us.  Does God always keep His promises to us?  Oh, you bet He does!

THE PROMISE BARN

We pray that God will bring opportunities to do good deeds in response to the promises He keeps to us.  Can you think of someone you could help today?  It doesn’t have to cost anything except a little of your time.  Most of us don’t have a large wad of cash to spend, and God doesn’t expect for you to do that.  He wants us to love and care for one another.

Goodness to members of our own family???  Well, sure – why not???

CHRISTMAS PIE FROM MR. P

There are shut-ins and lonely people all around us.  Elderly people sometimes have trouble writing.  Maybe you could help a friend or loved one address some Christmas cards.  Does someone you know need a ride to an appointment?  Maybe you could take a few moments to visit in someone’s home.  It means so much when people are so lonely and alone.  We give to others because God has given abundantly to us.  🙂

PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDOn the second day ‘fore Christmas we are to pray for strength against temptation, wisdom in decisions, patience with each other, forgiveness for our sins, give praise for His love, have love for one another, have joy to share with others, have peace in our hearts and thank God for His amazing grace.

There are temptations everywhere – that’s not a news flash to anyone, I’m sure.  We don’t have the strength to resist them on our own power – that may come as a surprise to some.  It’s only with help from God’s Holy Spirit that we can tell Satan to get behind us and resist whatever temptation is set before us.  We can say, “Get thee behind me, Satan – in the Name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior” – and he has to flee – go – decamp!  Vamoose!  Scram!  Hit the proverbial road!!!

It seems the younger we are in the faith, the longer it takes us to call for reinforcements where temptation is concerned.  As we get more seasoned and wise, we learn that it’s a good idea to just lean on God’s Holy Spirit from the beginning – and send the evil one packing right away.

TEN DAYS FORE CHRISTMAS

It’s such a comfort to have spiritual guidance through the twists and turns of mortal life here on earth.  This can be a scary place, this planet.  I’m glad I can call on God and His Holy Spirit to help me down the road, especially when there are speed bumps trying to slow me down.

THE GREATEST GIFTWe celebrate the birth of Christ, His love, joy, peace, mercy and willingness to die on Calvary’s cross so that a wretch like me could spend eternity in heaven.  When Christ ascended into heaven, He did not leave us alone, but left the precious Holy Spirit – the Comforter – the Helper – to guide us along in life.  Aren’t we grateful?  🙂

PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDOn the third day ‘fore Christmas we will pray for Wisdom in decisions, patience with each other, forgiveness for our sins, give praise for His love, love for one another, joy to share with others, peace in our hearts and thank God for His amazing grace!  Whew…  I had to take a breath about halfway into that – how about you?TEN DAYS FORE CHRISTMASPardon me if I refer to my mom too much, but she’s my frame of reference (let’s face it, I had a lifetime of mom-isms, didn’t I???)  Mom used to tell me that wisdom from God comes with a free Holy Ghost filter – that’s the filter that many in the world today brag about NOT having…  sadly.  Did you ever think you’d live to see the day when people would brag about just talking off the cuff with no filter???  I know, me neither.  😦

Do you ever think that poor decision-making can lead to poor circumstance outcome?  I know people don’t want us to link the two, but I think that if God is leading in your life, your life will be better than if He isn’t.  He will either be LORD OF ALL – or He won’t be LORD AT ALL.  God helps us make wise decisions if we ask for His help.  He’s never going to forsake His own.  If you belong to Him, lift up your head because you will be helped.

The Magi were called Wise Men.  Why did God want the most wise on earth to visit the Christ Child?  Wise Men – and also the most poor and most uneducated – the Shepherds.  I believe it’s because Christ came for EVERYONE – wise, unwise, educated, uneducated, rich, poor, young, old…  there are literally NO barriers – and no excuses – why anyone should not consider the Christ Child at Christmas.

WISE MEN STILL SEEK HIMHow should you seek Him?  There is no cut-and-dried method, but here’s what I would suggest.  Find a Bible.  If you don’t have a Bible, there are online resources you can use.  My favorite is https://www.biblegateway.com/

I like it because there is a verse of the day.  If you want some encouragement to light up your day, subscribe!  Pray for wisdom from God and begin reading His Holy Word.  He will help you – trust me!  🙂

PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDOh boy…  fasten your seatbelt – it’s going to be a bumpy ride…  because today we are praying for PATIENCE.  Hey…  don’t complain to me – it’s Lucinda’s poem!  I’ve always heard that you should never pray for patience because you will surely get tested on…  PATIENCE.  Sigh.  So…

On this fourth day ‘fore Christmas we will pray for patience with each other, forgiveness for our sins, give praise for His love, love for one another, joy to share with others, peace in our hearts and thank God for His amazing grace.  TEN DAYS FORE CHRISTMAS

I suppose praying for patience with each other is a very important part of preparing for Christmas.  Most of us are uneasy about the prayer “fall-out” that occurs, but we’ll survive that with God’s help, won’t we?  It’s our hope to come out shining like gold.  We should at least learn a lesson along the way.ONE DOORThis is our belief…  and we know that not everyone shares it.  When it comes to patience, it is tested sorely when we encounter a non-believer.  We just love God so much and believe so strongly in Christ and want others to believe too – when that doesn’t happen, our level of patience – or tolerance is stretched.  We need to learn how to back away slowly and pray for people when they refuse Christ – for whatever reason.

We need to remember that it’s not our job to save everyone.  We need to share – but it’s not our job to change hearts.  Pray and leave it alone.  God will do His job in His time.  Don’t take it as a failure.  Trust that God will work with the seed you’ve planted – and be patient with the non-believer.  We don’t know where they’re coming from, but we know that God knows where they’re coming from.  Just pray and let God do the rest.  Practice patience with others and pray for it without ceasing.  🙂

PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDOn the fifth day ‘fore Christmas (and this is a big one, so pay attention…) we are to pray for forgiveness for our sins, give praise for His love, pray for love for one another, joy to share with others, peace in our hearts and thank God for His amazing grace.  The list grows…  are you keeping up???TEN DAYS FORE CHRISTMAS

My mama used to tell me that there’s no such thing as a little sin – it’s all big stuff in the eyes of God – and it all matters.  Wrong is wrong and right is never wrong – so sitting on the fence and saying that you don’t do a lot of sinning – or you don’t sin great big huge – you just commit (or omit) little sins – um…  sorry to burst your proverbial bubble – but that’s still sin and needs to be put under the blood of Christ.  That means you need to ask Him to forgive it – and mean it – then not do (or not do) it anymore.  It’s about change – and I know we get comfortable in our sin – but we need to not be so comfy in it.

Sin is not an OOPS or a MISTAKE or an OH, HOW DID THAT GET THERE…  call it what it is – sin.  It’s not pretty and it separates you from God.  It makes your life less than what it could be.  God wants the very best for your life – and that sin gets in God’s way.  Sometimes a sin can take first place in your life – the hiding of it and the care you take of it – well – God wants first place in your life – He wants that spot.  Get that sin out of His way.  He hates sin and will not tolerate it.  He wants you to hate it too – and love Him.  It can’t be a little sin and a little God – this is not a combo that is possible.  It’s one or the other – you must choose.

FORGIVENESS OF SIN

Nobody can make that choice for you – it’s up to you.  I’ll tell you this…  if you choose to ask God to forgive your sins – He will do it the second you ask… and they are forgotten from this day forward.  People tend to remember the sins of others if they know about them – but God will never hold them up to you once He’s forgiven you.  They are as far as the east is from the west… it’s not north and south because those two eventually meet – it’s east and west – because they don’t meet.  Isn’t that cool???  I think so!  🙂

PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDOn this sixth day ‘fore Christmas – on this day of preparation, let’s give praise for His love, pray for love for one another, joy to share with others, peace in our hearts, and thank God for His amazing grace!TEN DAYS FORE CHRISTMASWe learned how to praise God in Sunday School, didn’t we???  With songs like Praise Him, Praise Him…  we are taught that our God is a jealous God and He takes first place in our hearts, minds and lives.  It’s up to us to remember those truths as we grow up.  Today serves as a reminder…  praise Him because He is the only One worthy of our praise, worship and adoration! We Need You

https://youtu.be/rj_0wjETlu4  I love heartfelt praise to the Lord…  this talented young lady’s song touched my heart.  ❤

Naturally when I think of praising the Lord my mind goes to music, but there are other ways to honor, praise and adore God.  We honor Him with our lives, our actions, attitudes and behavior.  Are actions and behavior the same thing?  I don’t know – maybe.

Let’s listen to more praise and worship!  https://youtu.be/yLKAK4g8va0

Make my life a HALLELUJAH!!!  Amen to that! CHRISTMAS DAYDoes your Christmas celebration include the reading of the Christmas Story???  I remember my daddy reading the Story from the book of Luke every year.  It is the birth of Christ we are celebrating, so it makes sense to hear the account of it every year.  It never gets old to me because it is a huge piece of the puzzle that makes Christmas, CHRIST-mas!  WE'RE KEEPING CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS

JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASONIt’s all about Him…  His love, His mercy, His grace, His Salvation – offered freely to everyone.

This is going to make me seem old – but hey – I am…  I like Evie and always will.  I need to hear some Evie at Christmas – LOL!!!  https://youtu.be/F8Fq3tfKDek

You know how some folks have to listen to Bing or Andy at Christmas???  Well, I have to listen to Evie!  🙂

PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

TL 12-1 PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORDTEN DAYS FORE CHRISTMASOn the seventh day ‘fore Christmas we will pray for love for one another, joy to share with others, peace in our hearts and thank God for His amazing grace.  Love for one another – I mean, were you out there on Black Friday???  Seriously?  But maybe it’s a love that goes beyond mere commercialism…  hmm…

The only way to love anyone – and yes, that includes family members – is with the love of God, through Christ Jesus.  That is the love we pray to receive from God.  Love came down at Christmas:  https://youtu.be/WsSapMaTnKw

Dear Lord,

We need to learn how to love one another the way You want us to.  We’ve learned well how to be divisive and hateful toward those who are not just like us.  So many lines divide us, but we seriously need Your Word to speak to us and teach us to erase those lines in our lives.  Shower Your wisdom over us, wrapped up in Your love – the love that was born in Bethlehem.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.

When we have God’s love through Christ, we are able to give good gifts – gifts of love.  We receive the best love from God – it’s a love that sees beyond ourselves and into the feelings and emotions of others.  Christ Himself instructs us through the Holy Bible, so we are ready to show God’s love to those around us.

Jesus loves you…

This cracks me up – in our church we used to have to coax the kids to sing louder…  whew!

The greatest life one can have is of service. Give joy, happiness, bliss, laughter, wisdom, prosperity, love & light to others. By doing so, you tap into the Infinite Source within ensuring that you will never have to do without these “treasures” yourself! – Lateef Warnick

Serving the Lord during the Christmas season is the best thing you can do!  I hope you have an opportunity to give in some way of time, talent or treasure – maybe all three.  🙂
