PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY

TL 10-12 PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY

PASTOR APPRECIATION

God did not call me to go overseas to the mission field or call me to be a pastor’s wife. Would you think poorly of me if I admitted I’m glad? The Lord knows I would have been the worst pastor’s wife ever. I lack the patience it would take to be that Proverbs 31 kind of woman. But to those special women who are called by God to be a pastor’s wife, I tip my tiara to you today!

Today is PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY!!! While I know the day is for your pastor husband and you – together – because let’s face it, it takes both of you to make it work, (am I right?) – I want to show my appreciation to the wonderful WIVES of the ones who marry, carry & bury. You, ladies, are the ones behind the scenes doing the real work – wink… 😉

As your husband was called to minister, so were you. Why this analogy comes to mind I don’t know, but it’s a bit like you are the one standing in the corner of a boxing ring while your husband is fighting. You are the one waiting for the bell to ring, indicating a round is finished – you wait with love and encouragement as well as water and nourishment he will need before he has to go back out there to fight another round.

We all do that as wives, but I just imagine it’s more necessary, more imperative for you to be there in that way. In these days when people have gotten more desensitized and there is a blatant sense of entitlement instead of a sense of shame, it has to be a tougher fight than it used to be. We all come up against it, but it must be something your pastor husband sees more than the rest of us.

See everything; overlook a great deal; correct a little.  – Pope John XXIII

That’s good counsel for all of us, isn’t it?

I pray for all the pastor’s wives today. I pray that God will fill you with wisdom, patience and power from Him. May His Holy Spirit give you a greater resolve to minister when you feel like throwing in the towel. As the great hymn says, it will be worth it all when we see Jesus. ❤
