Today is NATIONAL KITCHEN KLUTZES OF AMERICA DAY!!! This is one of the wacky holidays that I can really get behind. I sooooo relate!!!

And THIS, boys and girls, is why you always follow the recipe to the LETTER… LOL!!!

If you are like me and tend to spill flour or other ingredients that take half a day to clean up, then get comfy and enjoy reading about the woes of Linda in the kitchen. I have enough stories to write a few books!!! Yeah, I’m gonna get right on that! Ha!

My most recent fiasco in the kitchen involved a slight oversight where the ingredients are concerned. While this was not a time when anything was spilt, it was still what I call my “fish faux pa”.

I went to the grocery store and bought cod for dinner. Those of you who buy fresh fish know that it is not under any circumstances cheap. We do try to eat fish at least once a week, but when you are preparing it you really do not want to mess it up.

The recipe called for paprika. This was a recipe I had used before and felt confident that I could make it with my eyes closed. I did the next best thing – I cooked without putting my glasses on. I reached for what I thought was the paprika. I sprinkled it liberally onto the cod before baking it.

When my husband took the first bite, I saw him walk very quickly and quietly into the kitchen to get a tall glass of water. He didn’t say a word. He didn’t have to. I bit into the fish and immediately knew why he was gulping water so fast! The paprika I put on the fish was not paprika, rather it was cayenne pepper!!!

Well – yes – I am a kitchen kluz. I should stand up in a meeting and say, “Hi – my name is Linda and I am a kitchen klutz!” 🙂

Let me know what you think!!!
